Black Dyke Band at Blackburn Cathedral Join us for what will be a truly unforgettable evening as we proudly welcome the world-famous Black Dyke Band to perform at Blackburn Cathedral. Formed in West Yorkshire in 1855, they are one of the most famous brass bands in the world. With a rich history and unparalleled musical legacy, they are the most recorded band ever with more than 350 recordings. Delivering a sound described as "powerful, majestic and full of emotion", they perform a diverse repertoire, from classical masterpieces to contemporary compositions and their concerts have a reputation for being highly entertaining, featuring world class soloists and special guests. In demand around the world, we’re delighted to welcome them to Blackburn Cathedral for what will be a very special concert. Brass banding just doesn’t get any better than this! Tickets are unallocated seating in each band. Hand Tool Wood Working Workshop At The Greenhouse Project, Witton Country Park Saturday 17th May 10am to 3pm This hands-on workshop is designed for complete beginners—no prior experience needed, just curiosity and enthusiasm! The Greenhouse Project is a Nature and Wellbeing community space which includes a woodworking area with tools and equipment, which you will work with. All proceeds from the workshop will go towards continuing to run and develop this community site. You'll be introduced to essential hand tools like chisels, saws, and planes, and guided through key techniques such as measuring, cutting, and joining. By the end of the session, you’ll have created a small wooden project to take home, along with the confidence to continue your woodworking journey. This is a fantastic opportunity to slow down, work with your hands, and connect with nature while learning a timeless craft. Expect a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with plenty of one-on-one guidance. Please wear comfortable, practical clothes and sturdy footwear. PPE will be provided. Hot drinks will be available, but please bring along snacks or a packed lunch. Car parking at Witton Country Park is 5 minutes walk away (£2 for the day). There is disabled parking available close to the site; accessible via a radar key or prior arrangement an accessible toilet is also available nearby.
