Woodland Forage and Nature Paper Making | Northern Roots
Cultural Experiences
Join the Northern Roots team for a
short woodland walk
,
learning about nature
and collecting grass, leaves and flower petals as we walk and talk. We’ll pause for a spot of bug hunting and bird spotting and make sure we leave plenty of flowers for pollinators and wildlife.
We’ll return to the blooming community garden where you’ll learn how to make
sustainable, handmade pressed paper
using recycled materials – guaranteed fun that may get messy!
We’ll guide you through the process and show you how to form different shapes and press out the water. You’ll then be able to
decorate your paper
by pressing in the natural forms you collected, using nature as your design inspiration.
You’ll learn the importance of reusing and recycling and transform used paper into something new and beautiful.
Take home your paper and turn it into a card for family, gift tags, a hanging decoration, a framed art piece, or have it as part of a collage.
Please note that paper will need time to fully dry at home.
After the session you’re welcome to stay in our community garden for a picnic or explore the Phase 1 Urban Farm and polytunnels to see all the veg we’re growing. Suitable for children aged 5+ and adult tickets are free!
