Krabi is a southern province of Thailand and is located on the shores of Andaman Sea. It is believed that the province probably derived its name from the word ‘Krabi’ which means an ‘ancient Siamese sword’ because according to legend there was the unearthing of an ancient sword before the city was founded. Then there are Phi Phi islands which are the prettiest in Thailand and are only a ninety-minute ferry ride from the city. Koh Mor and Koh Tup are also well known for their particular shape because they are connected through a sandbar which also takes you to Koh Kai, a third another island during low tide. Klong Thom Hot Springs in the forest nearby the Khao Phra Bang Khram Nature Reserve and originate from the ancient volcanic chambers. The town of Krabi itself is very relaxed and easy-going with a simple provincial charm that doesn’t try too hard.

Krabi Town is definitely the best area for those travelling on a strict budget however those looking for a unique experience might like Ko Ngai and Ko Lanta just the right area for them to stay in.
