Hotel Description
Balloon Watchers Retreat is a unique bohemian-styled one bedroom apartment on the ground floor of a gothic Victorian villa situated on the lower slopes of the Wells Road, close to the River Avon and the South entrance into the centre of Bath.
Set back from the road, behind an iron gate, this gothic wonder was once a Victorian Schoolhouse. Its owners have lovingly rearranged it into five uniquely decorated apartments.
This is a character-filled building and is not the "perfect boutique hotel" many guests desire nowadays. It may not be your cup of tea, but if you enjoy the unusual and the quirky, this is the right place for you.
Balloon Watchers Retreat offers a quaint one bedroom apartment, with an extra single bed in the lounge. It is on the ground floor of this amazing building with a double bedroom, compact kitchen, shower room, and comfortable sitting room featuring fantastic views over Bath, where you can watch Hot Air Balloons taking off from Bath's Royal Victoria Park.
The sitting room has a comfy sofa, dining area and single bed for extra guests.
With its hot air Balloon theme, you will be delighted to relax in this charming retreat.About pets:Pets allowed.About checkOut:Check out before 11:00 AM.About children:Adults only.About checkIn:Check in after 3:00 PM.About smoking:Smoking is not permitted.About minBookingAge:Minimum age to rent: 21.About events:No events allowed.

Hotel Description
Centrally located only 2 minutes walk from the station and with level walks to the Roman Baths and Abbey (10 minutes) or along the river to Pulteney Bridge (15 mintues), this charming Grade II listed terraced house is arranged over 4 floors. Fully centrally heated, the house has a cottage feel with a wood-burning stove, dresser, dining-table, CD and USB sound player in the fully equipped modern kitchen on the ground-floor, a bathroom and 'snug' on the second floor (with sofa-bed, flat-screen TV, and DVD player), second bedroom and study area with Wi-Fi internet connection on the third floor and large master bedroom with magnificent views over Lyncombe Vale in the attic. The house is full of character with paintings and novels, collections of poetry and travel books, and board games for children. Just round the corner in Widcombe Parade, you will find a range of pubs and restaurants, and country walks are also within easy reach. Parking is a problem: you can hover outside to unload luggage and shopping, park for 2 hours for free in Calton Walk - but for long stays, Southgate car-park (£16 per 24 hour period) is the nearest option - it has EV chargers.About pets:Pets allowed: dogs and cats less than 50 lbs per pet (limit 2 pets total).About checkOut:Check out before 10:30 AM.About children:Children allowed: ages 0-17.About checkIn:Check in after 4:30 PM.About smoking:Smoking is not permitted.About minBookingAge:Minimum age to rent: 18.About events:No events allowed.

It was a very special reunion for a group of nurses celebrating 50 years since we started our course in May 1975. In those days this hotel was a nurse's home and we all lived here for around 18 months. We had booked lunch, the food was lovely and the service was amazing. We so enjoyed our stay, 5 of us stayed for one or two nights. So beautiful and peaceful, couldn't have been better. Benice organised things for us, highly recommend her if you are booking an event.

The waiting area for check-in is very British and beautiful. We booked a classic room, which requires us to walk through the main building, pass the garden, and come to the second floor of a stable. The room is clean and the toilet is relatively large. But the location is a bit disappointing. The high price and high positioning of the hotel make us automatically assume that the view of the room will be particularly good, overlooking the city of Bath. The actual situation is disappointing. Looking out is the street view on the other side, and I dare not open the window. The pure British white old man helps you carry the luggage, making you feel embarrassed not to tip. The restaurant is very delicious, and the cauliflower is especially delicious. In this place, you have to keep communicating and making requests. They can do better.

First of all, hotels are very difficult to find. Apple's own navigation is wrong. Secondly, the bathroom in the store is extremely small, and there is still water noise in the sewer at night. There is a problem that hot water cannot be supplied in the room No. 3, which was notified too late and cannot be resolved by itself. Finally, the parking lot is small. Although the parking lots in Bath are very small, this is the only hotel in the UK that has charged me 15 pounds a night. Seriously not recommended.

The service at this hotel was excellent. Due to an unexpected change in our travel plans, we had to modify our original two-day stay, changing both the dates and duration. The hotel staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly, and kindly waived any change or cancellation fees. For parking, you need to get a discount code from the front desk, which brings the cost down to £17.5. Otherwise, it's £50 for 24 hours. PS: A few days after we checked out, an unpleasant incident happened. We had definitely paid for parking when we left, but a few days later, the hotel emailed us, claiming we hadn't paid and threatening a £35 fine. My advice to anyone renting a car in the UK is to always keep your receipts for parking fees and any other similar expenses.

The hotel location is excellent and it has a lovely antique vibe with a modern twist, the bathroom is spacious as well. Things that could be improved: one light bulb is dead, the small bedside LED reading light on one side of our bed doesn't work, the kettle needs some descaling. We found a hair tie left on the floor carpet, maybe it was left by the last guest in the room.

Very good hotel, two or three miles away from the center of Bath. The bathroom of the hotel is very large, and the large stainless steel bathtub amazed me. The refrigerator and mini bar in the room provide a variety of free drinks and candies and biscuits, which is very considerate. The self-service bar in the public area is also very distinctive, and the decoration is also very beautiful. It is a very recommended hotel. The only thing that needs to be improved is that the room is quite large, enough to choose a wider bed. The bed width written on Ctrip is 1.8 meters, but it is actually only 1.5 meters, and the King size bed here is 1.5 meters. I guess Ctrip made a mistake.

You can see the city on a small hill, the environment is good, the soundproofing of the room is average, the kitchen has a pot but no stove. Room 2 is on a super steep staircase, the soundproofing and heat preservation of the room are average, and the heating is broken. I fixed it myself and it was barely warm on the second night. The front desk and staff are very friendly and solve the problem in time. But I may not stay again. I can stay in Premier Inn for a little more money.

Attended on Tuesday 27th Feb. Paid a little extra for room with a bath as like the couple ****** we are, we wanted a bath in Bath. My wife's first time ever visiting here. The hotel is a lovely setting, there is history here and all the staff have been wonderful. Close to the station, literally in front of it, and close to everything. Had the great pleasure of having many encounters with Tim, one of the reception staff and I believe concierges. Super pleasant and always helpful. We had breakfast included and after having that this morning can honestly say it's bang for your buck, with hot food to order including steak and eggs, (best steak my wife has had in the UK), a breakfast grill and a selection of others plus a typical selection of baked goods and fruits. The bar is pleasant and we enjoyed drinks last night before heading up to our room. Strawberry daiquiri we have had many times but the Amaretto sour was an interesting twist with a strong lemon zest. The only downside to the visit would be the bath/shower experience. Lukewarm bath and cold shower when we attempted it last night. This morning we got hot water for a total of ten mins to share before it went cold again. Not the worst thing all in all but a downside considering the extra pricing for a bathtub room. I was however assured that had I brought it to the desks attention I would have been assisted and I had just done the British thing of not wanting to fuss. One last perk that made an impact to me; free luggage storage. We checked out early so we could make the best of our time exploring Bath before we ride home. We were offered free luggage storage for even after we checked out so we could come back in quick before our train at 3pm and grab our bags and go, no extra charge. Fantastically useful as the Abbey tour does not allow luggage inside and we wanted to go. Anyway, thank you to Tim and all the staff at The Royal for making us feel welcomed and our time there special, we will definitely be coming back someday soon and will stay again. - Liam and Jenny Stephenson, Room 109.
