If you’re looking for an authentic Florida Keys experience, with access to water sports, restaurants, and tiki bars, this place is situated perfectly. Great location and good facilities. Staff really friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Rick the GM runs a really good hotel here. In places the hotel is a little dated but it’s made up by the staff and facilities. Whilst we were staying they popped a letter to us apologising that they needed to do a small repair to the patio doors and made sure it was a convenient time to do it and gave us a breakfast vouchers for the troubles. First, if you are traveling with a family and need some separation, the junior suites in the coconut wing are perfect. I like the coconut wing over the hammock wing. The hammock wing rooms have a view of the trees and it is a sleepy beach with little sun. The water activities here are great. You can paddle board and kayak any time. They have fishing charters and jet skis right at the dock for you to charter/rent. The towel attendees are friendly. The food and beverage credit is good for any meal or drink. We found dry rocks to be affordable and very good. The activities they plan every day are fun and Lisa is spectacular. They offer a scavenger hunt with a prize of a free alcoholic drink. The front desk staff are very attentive and respond using the chat feature on the app. We are diamond and were not upgraded, but they did allow us to move to the coconut wing in a junior suite (it was considered a down grade, but we loved it). We also were given a 1 pm check out, even though we requested 2 pm. This hotel is very family and dog friendly, but also is romantic. I highly recommend this hotel and if you are a Marriott and Hilton person, I prefer this hotel over Playa Largo.From$395

For $200 a night, I had a room that was no more than 500 feet off of A1A,... talk about hearing the cars, trucks & motorcycles go by... The room: while it was clean, sure is not up to date! There was duct tape in at least 2 locations in the bathroom; the bathroom light was an outdoor porch fixture (just without a yellow bug light); the bathroom door opened right into the room door; the gap between the floor and the door jam of the room door was ridiculous (could be used as a bright night light) - had to place towels along the bottom & hang one from the side to try & block out the light and some of the road noise; the air conditioning unit turned on every 2-7 minutes, ran for 1-10 minutes, pretty noisy; the fridge (which I didn't find until Friday night/Saturday morning when all of a sudden a very audible noise started and woke me up - had to turn it off), was hidden in the fake dresser drawers; the vanity mirror reminded me of one of those mirrors you see at a carnival (distorted); there were chipped floor tiles throughout the room; the gentleman at the front desk when I checked in was not what you would call overly friendly; Housekeeping did come in and make the bed and bring new towels and toiletries; there was a free ”continental breakfast” served both mornings (coffee & tea, bottled juice, packaged Danish, single serve yogurts, oranges); bed was comfortable; but the pillows were made for kids (maybe 2-feet in length - at least there were 4 of them so you could pile them together); and what's with short-sheeting the bed? I made my reservation and payment to Trip.com, but when I checked in the guy said I had to answer some Expedia questions!? From$124

Went with my son for a quick trip. We loved it! Nice pool and we had fun with some of the other activities: corn hole, ping pong and bike riding (bikes were a little old but still fun and safe). Didn’t have time to try the kayaks (they also looked old but safe, would have tried). We biked to Harriet’s for breakfast one morning, highly recommend that place too! Staff was very friendly and helpful: Alex at the front desk and another gentleman (didn’t catch his name) were both great! Room was clean and pretty, had everything we needed including mini fridge. My only complaint is the shower: terrible water pressure! That’s the main reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5. Also had a very nice Sun deck right outside our room, beautiful view Snappers is a Great restaurant 2 minute walk away, easy to get late lunch/dinner/drinks. Opens at 4pm. Live music you can hear from the hotel (not in a loud/disturbing way, was nice!) It’s an older property, not ‘super fancy’ but pretty and clean, perfect for us for this trip. This hotel has been our little get away for years when we hit Key Largo for snorkeling and scuba trips. It has everything for couples and families looking for fun on top of their activities planned in the Keys. Seriously cant say enough about what all this hotel has…. Everything from a tiki bar, small beach where you can snorkel and see all kinds of sea life from manatee to stingrays, plus they have kayaks for rent, tons of lounge chairs to take in the sunset or sunrise, and the staff is simply wonderful and very accommodating. The pool is average, but it offers plenty of birds and iguanas that will swing by as entertainment. Pick up some fruit and the iguanas will be your best friends…. Bananas and cantaloupe seem to be their favs! If you do stay at this hotel, I highly recommend getting a room in the lower part of the hotel, down by the tiki bar facing the pool. The rooms are super clean, and smell fresh…. Something we find at other hotels in Florida can sometimes be a challenge. It’s 5 stars all the way for us. Very nice place to relax. I was in the Hidesway cabin and it was perfect for me. The resort was centrally located and easy to find. The grounds were immaculate. The cabin had everything I needed and was also spotless and kept clean. Breakfast items were available every day and included in the price. Restaurants were located within walking distance. Had a beach area but mainly just to step in and cool off your feet. A dock was their also with chairs so you could relax, read, or just gaze at the sunset and view the boats. Would go back again. This Marriot is our go to spot in the upper keys. The staff are courteous and work hard to make sure you have a great time. The pool is well designed for lots of people without feeling over crowded. The beach is exactly what our family needed...warm water, sand, beach chairs, towels a plenty and water sports. The sunsets are breath taking and the full service beach and pool staff are jovial and well trained in their professions. I highly Recommend the tropical salad and the pina coladas. First, if you are traveling with a family and need some separation, the junior suites in the coconut wing are perfect. I like the coconut wing over the hammock wing. The hammock wing rooms have a view of the trees and it is a sleepy beach with little sun. The water activities here are great. You can paddle board and kayak any time. They have fishing charters and jet skis right at the dock for you to charter/rent. The towel attendees are friendly. The food and beverage credit is good for any meal or drink. We found dry rocks to be affordable and very good. The activities they plan every day are fun and Lisa is spectacular. They offer a scavenger hunt with a prize of a free alcoholic drink. The front desk staff are very attentive and respond using the chat feature on the app. We are diamond and were not upgraded, but they did allow us to move to the coconut wing in a junior suite (it was considered a down grade, but we loved it). We also were given a 1 pm check out, even though we requested 2 pm. This hotel is very family and dog friendly, but also is romantic. I highly recommend this hotel and if you are a Marriott and Hilton person, I prefer this hotel over Playa Largo.From$395

Great location and good facilities. Staff really friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Rick the GM runs a really good hotel here. In places the hotel is a little dated but it’s made up by the staff and facilities. Whilst we were staying they popped a letter to us apologising that they needed to do a small repair to the patio doors and made sure it was a convenient time to do it and gave us a breakfast vouchers for the troubles. For $200 a night, I had a room that was no more than 500 feet off of A1A,... talk about hearing the cars, trucks & motorcycles go by... The room: while it was clean, sure is not up to date! There was duct tape in at least 2 locations in the bathroom; the bathroom light was an outdoor porch fixture (just without a yellow bug light); the bathroom door opened right into the room door; the gap between the floor and the door jam of the room door was ridiculous (could be used as a bright night light) - had to place towels along the bottom & hang one from the side to try & block out the light and some of the road noise; the air conditioning unit turned on every 2-7 minutes, ran for 1-10 minutes, pretty noisy; the fridge (which I didn't find until Friday night/Saturday morning when all of a sudden a very audible noise started and woke me up - had to turn it off), was hidden in the fake dresser drawers; the vanity mirror reminded me of one of those mirrors you see at a carnival (distorted); there were chipped floor tiles throughout the room; the gentleman at the front desk when I checked in was not what you would call overly friendly; Housekeeping did come in and make the bed and bring new towels and toiletries; there was a free ”continental breakfast” served both mornings (coffee & tea, bottled juice, packaged Danish, single serve yogurts, oranges); bed was comfortable; but the pillows were made for kids (maybe 2-feet in length - at least there were 4 of them so you could pile them together); and what's with short-sheeting the bed? I made my reservation and payment to Trip.com, but when I checked in the guy said I had to answer some Expedia questions!? From$124

Went with my son for a quick trip. We loved it! Nice pool and we had fun with some of the other activities: corn hole, ping pong and bike riding (bikes were a little old but still fun and safe). Didn’t have time to try the kayaks (they also looked old but safe, would have tried). We biked to Harriet’s for breakfast one morning, highly recommend that place too! Staff was very friendly and helpful: Alex at the front desk and another gentleman (didn’t catch his name) were both great! Room was clean and pretty, had everything we needed including mini fridge. My only complaint is the shower: terrible water pressure! That’s the main reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5. Also had a very nice Sun deck right outside our room, beautiful view Snappers is a Great restaurant 2 minute walk away, easy to get late lunch/dinner/drinks. Opens at 4pm. Live music you can hear from the hotel (not in a loud/disturbing way, was nice!) It’s an older property, not ‘super fancy’ but pretty and clean, perfect for us for this trip.
