Approximately 15 minutes from Hakone Yumoto Station
It is a small hotel, suitable for a quiet rest.
Kaiseki cuisine was delicious and the staff were friendly.
After using the open-air hot spring for 40 minutes without disturbing others, we had dinner.
The changing area at the open-air hot spring is old and needs improvement.
I had a good rest

Japanese style, just so-so, may not be suitable for Chinese people
Hygiene: clean
Environment: OK
Service: The private soup is good, recommended. Breakfast and dinner were not satisfactory. There was no fruit or ice cream at this price, and there was no milk or eggs for breakfast. This hotel is still very stingy.

When checking in, the hotel will explain the tourist route of Hakone. It's a no-brainer to check in and just follow the map provided by the hotel.
The service exceeded my expectations. I felt like a princess returning home during my stay. I thought this was the standard Japanese service. But later I stayed in other hotels and found that the service of Gora Kadan is far better than other hotels of the same price.
The room is a bit old and the shower is also very old, but it is cleaned quite well.

Second stay, the hotel environment is very good, hot spring is also very good. Meals, breakfast and dinner are rich, delivered to the room, but the barbecue and hot pot smell very strong, I proposed to eat in the restaurant, and applied several times before being approved. My companions were sick, and all the pharmacies nearby were closed due to the economic depression. The first aid kit in the hotel was not updated, and it was barely enough for emergency. The town is quite quiet, the forest art gallery and sightseeing train are still there, but they are obviously very dilapidated.

Excellent! This onsen ryokan, operating for over 70 years, boasts 9 natural spring sources, a clear testament to its authentic *gensen kakenagashi* (free-flowing hot spring water) system. It's a short, convenient walk from the station. The bamboo grove at the entrance is exquisitely maintained, and we were welcomed by female staff in traditional attire. The gentleman who handled our check-in had a wonderfully distinctive charm.
Our room was very spacious, with large floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning views of the river and distant mountains – truly beautiful. We had booked a Japanese-style room with a semi-open-air private bath, including the 'one night, two meals' plan. Before dinner, an attendant came to greet us, and then the elaborate multi-course kaiseki meal was served. The entire dining experience lasted nearly two hours. While the ingredients were intricate and well-presented, it wasn't 'delicious' in a conventional way, though certainly not unpleasant. I suppose that's just how traditional kaiseki is, and I appreciate the experience. Afterwards, a staff member prepared our futon beds for the night.
Soaking in the private onsen before bed was incredibly relaxing. The hot spring water was continuously flowing, and a notice on the wall detailed its composition, stating that only water was added to lower the temperature, along with chlorine for disinfection, and crucially, no circulation system was used. This is significant because many other onsen ryokans might offer beautiful gardens, attractive prices, and even private indoor baths, but a closer look often reveals they might just be using plain heated water or circulated onsen water.
The impeccable service was almost overwhelming.
Overall, I highly recommend this ryokan to anyone looking for an authentic Japanese onsen experience. If I were to visit again, I would probably opt out of the two meals package. The kaiseki was a unique experience, but once is enough, and there are many dining options on the walk from the station.

I was quite worried before my visit, having seen many mixed reviews online. However, I decided to stick with this hotel, primarily due to its excellent location very close to Yumoto Station, which makes getting around incredibly convenient.
Upon arrival, I personally found it to be excellent. First off, the room was very spacious. Although the amenities were a bit dated (still using traditional button switches instead of a modern key card system), the vintage charm of this traditional Japanese-style room was actually quite nice.
Secondly, staying in a room with a private outdoor onsen at the foot of the mountain during summer, I was delighted to find no mosquitoes. I only spotted one unidentified bug on the day I checked in, and never saw another insect afterwards. What's more, the onsen water was continuously circulating, so the surface was always clean with no debris. Enjoying a hot spring bath at night while stargazing was truly blissful.
The breakfast and dinner portions initially looked small, served as individual dishes, but by the end, I was completely stuffed and couldn't finish it all! (𖦹.𖦹)
Finally, the overall service was impeccable, from the check-in process at the front desk to the staff attending to us during breakfast and dinner.

The room is clean and the facilities are excellent. You must choose the double-board package. The breakfast is amazing and the dinner is pretty normal. In addition, this hotel is quite primitive and there will be some noise when you sleep at night.

Great hotel! I like the environment and service. Their children's yukatas are very beautiful. I booked one night with two meals. The food was very good, beautiful and delicious. I ate a lot, but the wine and drinks need to be paid separately, but the price is reasonable. The plum wine is delicious. My parents like it very much. They said that staying for one night is too little. The room we stayed in was very large. We had 3 tatami mats for 3 adults and 2 children. There was also a small room with two beds for each of us to sleep separately without affecting each other. There was also a room dedicated to suitcases and yukatas, which was very convenient. There was an indoor hot spring in the room, which could be filled with water by itself like a bathtub. I think I could soak my feet at night, but there was no need. At first, when I booked the hotel, I thought it was a courtyard hot spring where I could take pictures. I was disappointed when I arrived at the hotel. It was actually an indoor bathtub. Fortunately, there was a public hot spring next to it, which was very convenient. It was just like taking a bath in the room. It was just a few steps away, but I couldn't take pictures. There was no scenery. This hot spring hotel is in the Japanese courtyard style. It looks good to take pictures. You can take beautiful pictures in your own room and courtyard. It's very photogenic! Although the language communication is all in Japanese, they will use their mobile phones to translate for you, so you can understand it better.

Very quiet hotel, the small yard is beautiful, the private soup is not beautiful, but the public soup is beautiful, there are few people, and they basically make their own. The kaiseki cuisine in the evening was great, beautiful and delicious, and the breakfast was delicious. The waiters in particular need to be praised. Everyone is very good, especially the girls in our room. They are thoughtful and meticulous and will use translation software to communicate. Each dish is carefully introduced, and hot tea and ice water are prepared when leaving at night, which truly reflects the quality of Japanese service. I like to see the signpost of Zaoyun Temple the most when I go out of the hotel. I took a light rain early in the morning, quiet and elegant.

fabulous experience - food was interesting and delicious.
the room was lovely looking out to the Mountains with our Private bath...
the service was lovely....
I would recommend this as a Ryokan experience. Just use the luggage transfer service from arrival at the Station in Hakone to save you getting your bags up the hill.....
its easy to come down when leaving.

The overall service and facilities were excellent, especially the open-air bath in the room, which was fantastic. It was a bit disappointing, however, that we couldn't arrange dinner on Christmas Eve and had to eat out.

The room was very comfortable and stylishly decorated, with the designer's unique taste blending seamlessly with the outdoor scenery! The room had an outdoor hot spring bath, which I loved – it exceeded my expectations! I was very impressed with Hoshino Resorts' hot spring hotels and would definitely visit their high-quality hot spring hotels in Japan again!
