This is a five-star hotel in a classic style, converted from an old building. Definitely not the kind of hotel used in China. In the center of the old town of Lyon, there are various stores on the doorstep, and a stylish chocolate shop diagonally opposite, and the famous Rose Tower attractions across the alley next to the hotel. The interior decoration of the hotel is also old-fashioned, the door is opened with a key and no card is needed. The room was beautiful and welcoming, the toilet and shower room were separated. There is also a spa on the top floor. We went to live in Lyon on the day of the annual Lyon Festival of Lights, and on the weekend, the room price doubled several times than usual. It's easy to miss without paying attention. If the usual price to live is definitely possible. Holidays are definitely expensive. It is very convenient to visit and live in the old town. Self-driving is not suitable and I don't know where the car can be parked.

The hotel is in the old town of Lyon and the surroundings are nice. The hotel has very few breakfast options and is not recommended (but breakfast can be delivered to the room). The staff is very good. There is a kitten in the hotel and it is lovely. The only problem was that I checked my luggage and waited for two hours when the staff arrived.

The standard of service has declined; this hotel no longer deserves its 5 stars: torn pillow, the wall by the window completely crumbling (room 206), damaged door frames, and very expensive parking (€30 per night). The superior double room was tiny and exorbitantly priced at €290 including breakfast. The breakfast itself wasn't great for the price!
The only exceptional feature was the restaurant on the 8th floor, with a magnificent view.

The staff are all very nice.
The facilities are old but for a European hotel, they are well equipped.
Water pressure is also sufficient.
The Perrier, juice and snacks in the room fridge are free. What a nice service.
Overall, it's well worth the price.
I think it's a great value for money that you wouldn't find in a Paris hotel.

My stay at the hotel left a positive impression. The rooms are spacious, the bed is soft, and high-quality hair products are provided. The hotel is conveniently located.
The breakfasts were delicious, including freshly squeezed juices (orange, apple, grapefruit, lemon), a detox drink, and kombucha. Eggs were cooked to order in various styles. There was also a wide selection of desserts.
The only thing I didn't notice when booking was the need for a deposit—300 euros for 3 days.

This hotel deserves five stars for its service and facilities. Our room faced Place Bellecour, and all the attractions were within walking distance. The breakfast was excellent, and they even gave us a small gift when we checked out. Great value for money. I'd definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Lyon.

Wonderful hotel, great location close to the Roman amphitheatre and a finicular down to the city, we were very comfortable and the staff welcoming. We felt the facilities for breakfast were a little chaotic as there's not enough room for guests, so they get asked to take a tray into the bar area which is second rate. Also in the bar you get a bill for everything you order which is strange, we've travelled the world and can't remember experiencing this, it can feel odd.

Nestled on Fourvière Hill, the location is absolutely stunning. The hotel is built within a church, which gives it so much character. It's a lovely walk out and about to explore, though for transport you'll likely need to walk or use Uber.

Honestly, the location and cleanliness were excellent. While sightseeing, my accommodation was right in front of me, so I used the bathroom right there. There was a water purifier and a free coffee machine, so I didn't have to buy bottled water or go to cafes, which saved me money and was great. The elevator is small and the room is tiny, but it was big enough to open two suitcases, and most importantly, it was very clean. There was also an air conditioner, so it was nice and cool. There are lots of good restaurants nearby, so I highly recommend it.

The value for money was excellent. The room was spacious, clean, and well soundproofed. The breakfast was truly delicious. The small pool in the basement was more than enough to relax for a while.
One small drawback is that the hotel is a little far from the tourist sites, but everything was still within walking distance.
If I return to Lyon, I will definitely stay here again.

Mercure is a great hotel with excellent staff. They are friendly and professional. Parking fee of EU28/day is a high but reasonable. Slight downside is construction noise opposite during July 2024
