My partner and I came to stay for a spa break and really enjoyed our stay, but the hotel could benefit from a few tweaks. Pros: - Gorgeous facilities and decor. The restaurants and spa were just fantastic and the ambience was very special - felt very modern Scottish country hotel. - Pricing of the stay and food and drinks were fair and reasonable for quality. Cons: - The temperature in the hotel was very warm, and this meant the rooms were hot and despite air con we couldn’t seem to bring the temperature down enough and it meant we didn’t sleep well. - The pillows on the bed in the rooms were awful - no shape and flat.

Grounds and hotel are beautiful but our room was decidedly average. Despite £315 a night, which seemingly wasn’t enough because they added a ‘discretionary’ but secret service charge of 5% on top, I can’t say it was spectacular. The room : The carpet was heavily stained and we couldn’t open a window due to an issue with bees coming in. Bathroom foisty smelling but I must say was well equipped. Also, the room was maintained regularly which is refreshing these days. The food : £28 for a very average burger and chips. Need I say more ? Plus 12% service on top. Breakfast is mainly a buffet, and nothing to write home about. Plenty of choice though. The staff : by and large the staff were tremendous. Helpful, friendly, always a lovely welcome. The only exception were the two girls in the state room restaurant. They couldn’t have been less interested. You know when you feel like you’re interrupting their peace by bothering them with a drink order ?? The spa : lovely being that it was sunny, pool was great. Beware, I was told we couldn’t have coffee here because they encourage ‘healthy’ options like tea and water. Assume same goes for alcohol (though I don’t drink). Being that I’m a grown up and I come on holiday for fun, forced health choices are a bit OTT for my liking and it left me irritated. Jacuzzi was broken most of the time we were there We had a nice time, and it’s in a great location but we probably wouldn’t return - there are better spa hotels for the price. No reflection though on the (mainly) lively staff who I think work hard and are good at their job

Fabulous hotel and facilities, its website does not do it justice! The food was the only negative thing for my family, though I myself chose well and thoroughly enjoyed all my meals, especially breakfast and the caesar salad lunch in the golf clubhouse. The pool and relaxation area, the bedrooms and bar areas were exceptional with delightful staff. My 2 spa trea**ents, facial and pedi were more than I’ve ever paid for such trea**ents, but delivered well by a staff member for whom nothing was too much trouble.I would love to revisit sometime. Thank-you.

Beautiful hotel in a stunning location with great staff ready to help and advise. Only issue we had was the price v quality of the food didn't match our expectations.

The place is beautiful and spa is amazing. Sadly it was so overbooked on the Sat 11/5 that we didn’t stay in the spa. We had a dinner booking at 9pm, but didn’t get our mains until 10.50. Apparently the “kitchen had issues” again because the property was so overbooked. It’s a such a shame as the next day the spa was so much quieter & it was a totally different experience. We have the hotel our feedback, but I’m disappointed they didn’t do more or get in touch to apologise. It’s very expensive and the relaxing overnight spa for my mum, sister and I on my birthday left us very disappointed. It has the potential to do so much better.

This was a last minute 2 night break, after a week travelling around England & Wales. All I can say it did exactly what we needed. Relaxation at it's best. The service/ accommodation/ food was fantastic

Schloss Roxburghe, is one of the nicest hotels i have stay at in the UK. As a frequent guest at 5 star luxury hotels around the world, i was pleasantly supersized by this hotel. Upon arrival you see the very imposing castle, then after i checked in, it felt like i had been transported back to the future when i got to my room in the new extension. how they have combined both old and new just needs to be seen, fabulous. Also the Spa facilities and amazing.

Went for afternoon tea it was fabulous.Flavia made sure we had everything we needed was very attentive. Went to the bar afterwards all the bar staff were very friendly spent a lovely afternoon looking at the people in the spa it looks good hope to go and try it myself .

Overall our stay was good. The staff were very nice and the hotel is well presented. Our room looked the part but the mattress was very hard and uncomfortable and we struggled to get the room temperature correct so got a terrible sleep. We ate at the Charlie's restaurant one night and again staff were great. We did feel it wasn't value for money as the prices were quite high for the standard of food especially since you are expected to add sides to make the mains a meal. Disappointly despite there being offered a wide range of sport activities there is only 2 members of staff that run them and one was ill during our stay so availability was very limited. I felt the "Optional" 12.5% service charge in the restuarant and the 5% services charge on the stay added on the final bill was a bit sneaky and should have been an opt in instead of an opt out scenario. Would make it feel more like you're giving a tip rather than just another stealth charge.
