Facilities: The hotel is on the island, there is no mobile phone signal, there is Starlink coverage, and the overall network is very good. You can take a boat to the island during high tide through the mainland, and use a tractor at low tide🚜 (novel experience) Sanitation: Clean and tidy Environment: The quality of tourists on the island is very high, you can see many washed islands, the rooms are very large, and there are a variety of room types to choose from. Service: The activity list is posted every day, including sea catching, single/double kayaking, diving, late night diving (qualification certificate required), yoga, sulfur mud bath, sunset island tour, mangrove adventure, fishing village life experience. Very colorful

It is an independent island, you can go there by boat when the tide is high, and by tractor when the tide is low. The room environment and the environment on the island are pretty good. What needs to be said is that the hotel has a power outage from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, and the mobile phone signal on the island is very poor (almost none), and the hotel's wifi signal is not too good Well, for people who want to ditch their phones and computers and forget about work and everything else.

Fabulous hotel! Service and meals were outstanding. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. You get an incredible private beach and lagoon with lots of activities - there's something for everyone here. The hotel is absolute paradise! It's probably the best hotel we've visited in Kenya. Would highly recommend this place, especially the over water rooms!
Response from Property: Thank you so much for your warm and thoughtful review. We truly appreciate your compliments and are humbled by your recommendations. We look forward to welcoming you back during your next visit to Kenya. Karibu tena (welcome again)!

This was our first time to visit after the renovation. The rooms are impressive. The sun set bar is magical. The staff are all wonderful. This is the perfect place for a proper R&R. This remains one of our favorite resorts in the world. Don’t miss the snorkeling!
Response from Property: Wow! Your comments are truly breathtaking. We are delighted to hear that you loved Chale Island even more after the renovations. Thank you for making our resort one of your most treasured destinations worldwide, and for always being a part of our journey. We look forward to welcoming you back many more times in the future!

I hesitate writing this review as I'm not sure I want the rest of the world to know about this magical place. You know a special treat is in store when you cross to the island at low tide on a wagon pulled by a tractor! I would best describe the resort as understated luxury. Everything from the decor, in room coffee selection, furniture etc oozes intentionality. Built around a gorgeous, dazzlingly white cove, the resort has a variety of rooms, peppered discreetly around the island, ensuring maximum privacy for all guests. Since my last visit, the resort has added several food and beverage outlets. Besides the main a la carte restaurant, you can also dine at the Samaki Sushi Bar, have a poolside BBQ or have pizza and pasta at the Italian trattoria. The highlight for me was the new Mkoko sunset deck. Perched on stilts on the water, the bar opens from 5pm and offers eye popping sunset views. The achingly cool bar has comfortable seats, hammock nets hanging along the edge and an incentive mixologist menu. Coupled with modern lounge music, you could imagine yourself in Bali, Ibiza, or Greece. Beyond the attention to details and delicious food, what really made Chale stand out to us was the people. Everywhere you turn, you are greeted with a smiling face and eagerness to please. Idrama and Matano took care of our libations, Paula is on hand effortlessly solving problems with her gorgeous smile. You would be hard pressed to say you couldn't find a manager, they are constantly around, talking to guests, checking that you are satisfied. I have never gone to a hotel and had such personal attention from every member of the management team. You are simply given no space or opportunity to be unhappy or dissatisfied. While the resort caters for adults and families alike, as a getaway for starstruck lovers, it could not be more perfect. We have already pledged to return...often
Response from Property: Hello, We would like to start by expressing our heartfelt gratitude for your detailed and uplifting description of your stay at our resort. We are thrilled to hear that your stay at Chale Island Resort was an unforgettable experience. Knowing that you plan to return frequently in the coming years fills us with joy. Rest assured, we will always be here with open arms, eagerly awaiting each of your visits.

We went to Chale Island at the end of our exciting and intense Safari trip and it was such a wonderful place not only to relax and enjoy evenings in the sunset bar and excellent restaurant but also to participate in a number of activities offered. The design and state of maintenance is stunning and the staff super friendly and helpful. There was a discrepancy between the pick up time back to the airport but reception had already sorted it with the driver when we came to clarify. They also have active engagement programs with the local community which we think is an important item!

You see the pictures and the instagram stories and then sometimes it’s just not that amazing BUT this place was beyond all my expectations. From the moment we got on that tractor towards the Island we were blown away, the staff, the food, the wildlife all faultless. We stayed in an ocean view Bandas, loads of room and two verandas, Omari looked after our room and spoilt us with beautiful floral displays. The managers of the hotel are constantly visible and come and chat to guests, Dave head of the restaurants spoke to us daily asking if everything was ok, the general manager also would come and chat. Seeing turtles hatching was a real treat and the hotel is so respectful with all of its wildlife and that it’s their habitat. We visited all of the restaurants and enjoyed a wide variety of food all of it delicious. The sunset bar is an experience you will never forget and each day is different. The bar staff waiters and waitresses are all so friendly, Brian and Ali to name just two of the great staff they have at Chale. I thought a week maybe to long on a small island but after a weeks safari it was just what we needed and we are very thankful and will be back.

Absolutely a fantastic place, nothing to complain about. Here the atmosphere is so quiet. The staff are very friendly and service minded. High quality food. The beach and the surrounding nature are lovely. The marine center has a lot of different options for trips. You meet the 2 types of monkeys.
Response from Property: Hi Lisa, We are so glad we could provide you with a fantastic holiday. We obtained immense pleasure playing host to you in our Resort and we hope that you will return so that we can continue from where we left. Karibu Tena.

I previously stayed at Chale Island in their underwater bungalows and thoroughly enjoyed their spa services. Due to my positive experience, when I returned to Diani with my mother and grandmother, I decided to call Chale's spa to see if I could book treatments even though I wasn’t a current guest. The spa confirmed that it was okay, so I booked three scrubs and massages for us. Unfortunately, the experience this time was vastly different. Despite calling ahead to inform the spa that we were running 15 minutes late, and being told it was fine, we embarked on the 30-minute journey down the rough, unpaved road to the island. When we arrived, the security guard at the gate laughed at us, rudely stating that we weren’t guests and therefore couldn’t enter. Despite explaining that we had booked treatments at the spa and had been told over the phone that it was okay, we were not allowed in. I had to call the spa again, and eventually, a hotel employee brought us to the counter where you catch the boat to speak with a more senior staff member. This employee was kind and tried to assist us, but his supervisor insisted that we would need to pay an additional $120 USD per person to access the island, on top of the $70 USD per massage we had already booked. I explained to the helpful employee that this situation was a result of poor communication and training on the part of the spa and the hotel. They wasted our time, subjected us to unnecessary stress, and allowed their security to treat us disrespectfully—three women, one of whom is 84 years old and uses a cane. Given this experience, I can no longer recommend Chale Island to others. What was once a place I cherished has shown me that their customer service and communication are severely lacking. The lack of clarity and the way we were treated at the gate have completely soured my perception of this establishment. To make matters worse, when asked who I had spoken to at the spa, I had to explain that the person on the phone hadn’t provided their name, nor did I think to ask, since they had assured me that it was perfectly fine to book services as a non-guest. This lack of accountability and professionalism is unacceptable.
Response from Property: Good morning from Chale Island, We hope this message finds you well. First, we would like to sincerely thank you for taking the time to share your experience at our resort. We also apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced. To avoid any misunderstandings, we would like to clarify our policies. At Chale Island Resort, we accommodate two types of guests: in-house guests and day guests. Our island is open to day guests from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with a fee of $120 per person which include lunch and using our facilities, Due to our in and out logistic transport limitations and remote location we are unable to accommodate non-guests for partial access for single usage outlet. Additionally, we would like to emphasize the importance of using our official communication channels. Reverting to your review, you introduced yourself as a day guest as opposed to a non-guest, and that opened the gateway for all the confusion. Once again, we appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention, and we hope this response clears up any confusion. We look forward to the opportunity to host you in the future

We stayed 2 weeks at The Sands on Châle Island. It’s s beautiful place, heaven on earth!! Large confortable room with air conditioning, fan, beautiful bathroom, fridge. Cleanliness is everywhere: beach, restaurants, bar, swimming pools, room. The food is excellent!! The service is impeccable. Thanks to Mr. Andrea. Mrs. Paula and Mr. Dave and all the staff. They are welcoming and very attentive. I would come back without hesitation!

We have stayed here twice before following a safari, this time we had an 8 day safari followed by 5 nights here. We came with 4 friends and they too were blown away. As before we stayed in beach cottages, we had 28,29 and 30 and all had fabulous views and it was great to lie on sun loungers on your own terrace and enjoy the scenery. Things have again got even better since last year. All of the cottages have been refurbished. The sunset bar is still gorgeous but now serves complimentary canapés with drinks. The food at the main restaurant is even more varied with ever changing specials and its of a really good quality. They now have an evening BBQ by one of the pools and we found the food brilliant. We also enjoyed the sushi at lunch time at the sushi place and ice creams at Tamu Tamu. As ever, Andreas remains the most hands on manager I have ever met and it shows, the staff cannot be faulted, but are so friendly and the banter about football and our friends attempt to learn Swahili kept everyone entertained. Dave the food and beverage manager has got a really good team with him, the food could not be faulted. We also really enjoyed our guided kayak with Tom, the Marine Biologist and also attended his Turtle talk, another great addition. Finally, all of us had 2 treatments at the spa, this cannot be missed! I would not come here to stay just here as its too far from the UK and we are not really into beach only holidays, however 5 nights after a safari is brilliant and I would love to come back. Finally, I booked everything direct with the Hotel and Mike, who was my contact was fantastic and responded to everything so quickly.
Response from Property: Hello, It is heartwarming and uplifting to know that even after visiting Chale Island thrice, you still have not been able to quench your Chale Island Thirst. We grasp this opportunity to express our innermost gratitude for making our Resort your most ideal tourist destination after an exhausting safari, we are absolutely thrilled and we look forward to more visits from you.

We went here for our honeymoon and it was an amazing place to stay ! We did have the honeymoon suite and it was perfect ! The food was fantastic every day and lots of exploring on the island / resting and relaxing was done ! The sky at night is crystal clear ! We did have some issues communicating with the hotel in terms of making the booking but once there everyone was very helpful !
Response from Property: Hi Beth, We are so grateful that among all the tourist destinations around the globe, you chose Chale Island as your most ideal spot to celebrate and enjoy your honeymoon. We must say we are overwhelmed. Secondly we are glad that your stay with us was generally a success. We are sorry about the little communication problem and we promise in future it will not re occur.

This is true paradise! We didn't miss anything, everything was perfect. The professional management, the friendly staff, always attentive when you need something, never stressed or fiddling with the cell phone like elsewhere... All meals, fresh and tasty, also vegan or vegetarian, great! Great weekly events with moonlight dinners on the beach and selected live music with a stunning buffet and grill. The rooms are very comfortable, of course with air condition and ceiling fan as well as a stylish bathroom and toilet. We slept wonderfully! We will be back!!
