It was a perfect stay experience. I arrived at the hotel after 8 pm. Everything was very thoughtful from the moment I walked in. The young lady who received me was beyond beautiful. I was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a room. The entire hotel is very new and beautiful, and there are many things you can experience, including various swimming pools, spas, and private beaches. Every hotel employee is very service-minded and all requests are met. We stayed at this hotel for a whole day and it was a completely relaxing vacation. If I could, I would give 10 stars

The location of the hotel is a bit far away, so it is not recommended if you are not traveling by car. But the hotel has a beautiful appearance, complete facilities, and many swimming pools. The design of the house is nice, just dark. The service was excellent

The room was very clean. Still like this hotel very much. The service is also very good. The guy at the front desk is very patient and every service staff has a smile. If I go there next time, I will still choose this hotel. The point is that the scenery is unparalleled.

Great difficulties of expression and communication on the part of the team. I don't think they understand each other. English is not acquired for all staff. Nevertheless, some people at the reception are very friendly. Lack of animation, quite boring. But the swimming pool is still very nice

The most incredible stay! Me and my partner stayed here for a week, first time in both Crete and this hotel; and we were not disappointed. Firstly, we stayed at the suite with private pool, steep price but worth every penny. The room was big and bright and the pool and terrace was just amazing. Secondly, the service, smile and genuine warmth of every employee - from the cleaning staff to restaurants, breakfast, bar, reception, concierge and pool areas was beyond what we have experienced anywhere else. This was the absolute highlight of our stay. Thirdly, the attention to details and attentiveness from the hotel, from sending a bottle of bubbles and note to our room without notice, to a good bye gift and fruit platters and accommodation to our requests was a really nice touch. Some things we would have liked to see be different, there were a lot of families with very small kids which we did not expect and it did affect the experience from time to time. We also did not manage to get a table at the fine dining restaurant which was a little disappointing, and there was only one other choice as we did not half board. The food there was however really good, but it did not beat the pop up lunch restaurant (wow, the food and service there was so good that we went there for four days, we wished this was open at night time!). The wine selection available at the hotel overall was unfortunately not great for wine lovers as most were Cretan and not really any other options which I would expect at a high end place like this. The few things we would change however, is nothing compared to how wonderful our experience was. Truly thank you to all the staff for making it that way.
Response from Property: Dear FeliciaL, Thank you for choosing The Royal Senses for your recent visit to Crete. We are more than happy to read that you enjoyed your stay with us and left with the best impressions and memories. Our team always goes above and beyond to deliver truly special and memorable moments, therefore feedback such as yours is extremely rewarding for them. In regard to your comments, we would like to mention that the hotel is advertised as a family friendly one. Concerning the wine list kindly note that at our main restaurant we offer a wide variety of Cretan, Greek and international white, rose and red wines. The same applies for all our a la carte restaurants. Thank you and hoping to be given the opportunity to welcome you back, in this case please do not hesitate to contact us in advance for any wishes you might have. Until then, we wish you all the very best! With kind regards Barbara Dunner Administration Office on behalf of the Management of Troulis Royal Collection

Just returned from a 3-night couples' stay here and had a great time overall. We did experience some maintenance and service inconsistencies and some strange management decisions (kids in spa pool?) which prevent us from leaving 5 stars. Based on our experience with other resorts, this is probably closer to a 4.0-star property than a 4.5 or 5-star property. Pros: -As Diamond members, we were upgraded from a private pool room to a duplex Royal Senses Villa, which was gigantic and lovely and was much appreciated. The beautiful, light-filled marble shower on the second floor was a treat as was the 2nd floor balcony w/ daybed and the huge 1st floor patio and pool -The facilities are new & clean, and the common spaces are beautifully designed -Panoramic views of the ocean from what seemed like most rooms' balconies. Ironically, you may end up with a better view from the lower-elevation rooms, because our top-end, highest-elevation Royal Senses Villa balcony was high enough to see the busy road and tops of other buildings which somewhat detracts from the otherwise gorgeous view of the ocean. The surrounding area (to the left and right of the resort) is largely empty lots which are not particularly picturesque. -Large breakfast buffet with lots of high-quality options -Unique glass funicular elevator/lift with beautiful views. As some reviewers noted it's slow, but that didn't bother us as we weren't rushing around and loved taking in the view -Staff we interacted with were for the most part super friendly and welcoming, in particular the check-in staff and those at the spa -Location is a nice jumping-off point to explore the middle of Crete (a few beautiful beaches are within an hours' drive, great restaurants in Rethymno within 30 mins) Cons: Cold private pool & outdoor shower temps -Many rooms here have private pools (amazing!), but they are not heated (with the exception of a minority of the top-end rooms which can be heated for 150 EUR). If you go in the shoulder season, just be aware that this essentially renders the private pools unusable / a cold plunge if the weather isn't super hot. We could only reasonably use the private pool for a portion of one day of our 3-night stay in late May and even then only briefly due to the cold water temp. Similarly, the outdoor showers do not have a hot water tap which leads to the same issue :( Lack of hot tubs -Although the adults-only outdoor pool near the spa has sectioned-off areas which look like they would be hot tubs, and they do have jets, they are not actually a different temp than the rest of the pool (at least during our visit). It would be nice to have a hot tub available during the shoulder seasons. Spa --Allows anyone (including children!) into the indoor 'spa pool' area. Typically spas only allow guests with same-day treatments in order to maintain a serene / uncrowded environment; this was not the case here which is a big mistake in my opinion (imagine paying a few hundred euros for a t

Lovely hotel and team all work hard to make your stay memorable. Thomas the concierge was super lovely and the front desk moved us no question when we were not happy when initially allocated an accessible room (we’re both 6 ft!) Breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever experienced and every thing I ate was gorgeous….exceptional choice and quality. Only rated 4 because the restaurant selection for evenings was extremes. Buffet or Michelin star….and because of the location it’s hard to travel to anywhere outside the hotel. That said we ate by the pool and got room service and it actually made for a really relaxing change. Pool was a delight too. If you have a family opt for half board I’m sure the evening selection would be equally as great as the breakfast

The hotel is beautiful, good services, while we were there everything was great, the reason why I give a 3 star rating is because , while we did stay we book a candlelight dinner for special occasion, and no doubt food was excellent, but there was an extra charge of over 600 dollars, for the same booking , we have try to contact the hotel and we talk to receptionist and she said the we need to contact them by email , we did twice but they have no respond our emails mean while I am stuck with charge. I hope they read this and contact us because I was a very happy customer, will love to recommend it but not like this.

Having stayed at the Royal Senses in May 2024 i had mixed opinions whether to write this review but after a few weeks of reflection decided now is the time. So Five stars ? definitely not in our opinion a Greek five star in reality Four at best. Our room with private pool simply did not represent the images on the website We did have concerns over the room and food in the restaurants especially the Buffet. The first impressions were truly awful we came to dine around 2030 with an hour to go before closing to find most dishes to be empty . After a quick chat we moved next door to there A La Carte restaurant where we ordered and quickly sent back the Beef and Lamb some of the toughest ever. The restaurant only charged for the drinks which i would expect. Having said this an amazing attempt to rectify these problems was made by Ivita from the hotel offering different rooms which did have better views but we did not want to waste anymore of the holiday so stayed put. Also a complimentary massage for my wife. So believe me they are there to help if you have a problem The little village of Panormos offered some great restaurants, and we eat there most nights not cheap but good. A good tip we substituted our evening meal for a lunch in the taverna by the pool which was great, amazing grilled Octopus where they offer a 15 Euro voucher for this. Would we return ? sorry no .
Response from Property: Dear andrewgl, Thank you for choosing to stay with us at The Royal Senses. We highly appreciate you mentioning our friendly staff and the good massage your wife was enjoying. From the review you have shared it is obvious that this holiday did not live up to your expectations and that there were challenges during your stay. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. Of course, we will also gladly investigate the areas of concern you raise in your review (especially the F&B departments), as through constant dialogue with our guests we can always be made aware of their wishes and preferences. Thank you once again and we hope that you will give us the chance in the future to welcoming you again into our hotel and change your negative impression to an enjoyable stay. Lovely hotel. And had a great stay, but encountered various isues, which were dealt with. Firstly the Pro's: -Amazing facilities, espcially for kids as well. The highlight was the heated main pool and adjacent kids pool. Stayed in some luxury hotels before but not with heated pools. -Generally great staff, and mostly good service. -Some lovely rooms, although a bit bland. We had a Villa with private pool and sunbeds. Con's: -The diagonal lift can be slow, waiting upto 5 mins if busy. Not really an alternative. -We were missing an umbrella on our patio, but just had a stand. I had to ask 3 seperate days, on the 3rd day eventually spoke to the Guest Relation mananger - Ivita (very helpful) who arranged it. -Had to call maintanace 4 times to our room, who were usually very prompt. Faulty TV needed replacing, Bedside lights did not work, and bathroom plug got stuck down twice. Needs a proper fix really. -Room had an intermittant smell of sewerage. Reported it but told them dont worry about looking into until we had gone as wasnt that bad. -Service in Gea buffet restaurant below par: Twice we were not asked for drinks after sitting down at all. Once we asked for a high chair which didnt arrive. Once my drink order wasnt taken correctly One day We asked the buffet supervisor for some speically made baby food if possible, she said io problem it would be 6-7 mins, and it never came. The next day we spoke to the Food and beverage mananger who was very helpful and arranged this going forward. -One day the shuttle bus from the Royal blue beach didnt come, we had to ring to request it urgently as we had a crying baby. Eventually waited 20 minutes after it was due We were given a complimentary meal in Mitato to make up for the issues which was great. -The service and food was slow in Mitato. We spent just over 2.5 hours in there for a 2 course meal. Our main meal took 45 mins to come and we had to ask for the bill twice. I know some other tables waited over 1 hour for the main meal. Overall I really do like this hotel, but I think perhaps we were unlucky with all the issues we had. Hopefully if we stay again it would all be resolved. Special mention to Refela and Jenny in the main resturant. Eva on Concierge, and The previously mentioned Guest Relations manager and Food and Beverage manager for trying to solve our issues.

We are loyal to Curio Collection all over the world and long time Hilton Honor members but this place exceeds in service, professionalism, cleanliness and hospitality. We received an upgrade to beautiful, two level, private pool villa. What a treat! Beautiful location with great views and spa. Although, we didn't travel with children there is plenty of fun for little ones too. We'll be back! Highly recommended!

I don't take writing a bad review like this lightly but issue after issue has led to me to. Issue #1: Upon check in, we were offered a complimentary upgrade which we gladly accepted. We were told that there was a chance we would have to move to our originally assigned room the next day but we accepted the risk. We were told later that night that was the case which was fine because we knew in advance. The next morning we went to the lobby around 10:30 am and were told that our new room was empty and housekeeping would do a quick check/clean. We left our bags and went to the beach. Upon our return at nearly 3 pm (15:00) we approached the front desk only to be told our room was still not ready and proceeded to wait in the lobby for another 15 minutes. We would have expected the Royal Senses staff to have prioritized our room cleaning since we had already stayed a night to limit our wait time. Especially since we were told the room was already unoccupied. Issue #2: This is simply a room design issue. In the King Deluxe rooms the smoke detector is placed directly above the top of the bed. Unlike many smoke detectors that keep a constantly glowing status light, this one blinks a white light every 20 or 30 seconds. This becomes a major annoyance when trying to go to sleep and keep getting a bright flash above your head every 20-30 seconds. This was a major disruption in being able to fall asleep. Issue #3: About 6 hours after check out I received a purchase notification on my Hilton Honors Amex card for a charge exceeding $930 (€850). I called Royal Senses to inquire about the erroneous charge and was told that it was payment for my 3 night stay. The issue was that I had already paid for the room nearly 6 months prior. So I had to comb through my email and provide the front desk with my booking confirmation number for them to look up and provide proof that I had in fact already paid for the room. Honorable mention: A toilet that would not stop running water despite our best efforts to remedy it. All of these things have led to this review. The Curio Collection by Hilton is supposed to be some of the best of the best as it relates to the Hilton portfolio but the Royal Senses Resort fell flat and wasn't worth the money for us. As a result, I can't say I would recommend it as a Hilton Honors Gold Member.

It's been our third time in this hotel during past few years and it still provides the best service - starting from great, caring staff, through excellent, restaurant-level food to beautiful, carefully arranged rooms. The fitness area also deserves a separate note - very well equipped and providing also adults only swimming area. The staff is doing their best to make the stay relaxing, the main pool area divided into three different sectors will meet the expectations of both families with small kids, teenagers and adults (this time we were here only with my husband and again we really appreciated how well the pool area is thought - there's a comfy and safe area for smaller children and two big pools for other guests). The hotel doesn't have a direct beach access but it's a melex-drive away and the ride is available every 20-30 mins (private hotel beach). The fact that we're here for the third time speaks for itself - beautiful place for relaxing holiday where everything is just top notch.
Response from Property: Dear NorthStar, Thank you for choosing again The Royal Senses for your recent visit to Crete. We are more than happy to read that your holiday exceeded once again your expectations and that you left with the best impressions and memories. Our team always goes above and beyond to deliver truly special and memorable moments, therefore feedback such as yours is extremely rewarding for them. With great pleasure we will forward your kind words to all our members. Do not hesitate to contact us in case you choose to visit us again. I have just returned after a 5 day stay here and i have mixed emotions writing this review as some of the staff were excellent, but there were too many poor experiences to cover up shortcomings 1 - arrived at 3pm after an early flight, we were kept waiting seated in the lobby area for around 50 mins, we kept asking what the delay was, eventually and only after asking for a manager did it transpire that our room wasn't ready. if they had told us this in the first place, and told us to grab a cold drink by the pool it would have been so much better. The customer care manager was responsive once she was aware, but the team supporting her are really letting her down badly. 2 - during this prolonged check in they advised that i had booked B and B, I had not, i had booked Half Board, despite me showing them proof (a confirmation from hilton) they advised that their records showed different, and that they wanted to check 3 - The room, fantastic room, freezing pool, really not much use, furthermore the pool kept flooding the seating area. 4 - Air conditioning - didn't work properly, i raised a ticket in their app, NOTHING happened, same with request for pillows, NOTHING happened, after 24 hours and lots of mosquito bites, i asked the manager and miraculously things were suddenly fixed. 5 - The Bar - the only hotel I have been to which doesn't have draught beer! - when i asked for one, I was told I should walk to the restaurant and sit there (great service - NOT) 6 - Asked whether there was a cash machine, advised to walk to nearest town (30 mins walk) turns out there is a cash machine in their sister resort, literally 3 mins walk away 7 To top it all off, when we checked out I was told there was a mini bar bill, given that I didn't even know we had a mini bar (it had a couple of waters and a sprite in there) I was handed a bill for 45 EUR - when I questioned this and told them there was no notice in the room, I was told were was a QR Code !!! a QR code is not a pricelist. 8 - Half board - very deceiving in so far as the website gives the impression you have multiple dining options, YOU DO NOT, BUFFET ONLY - very poor. The only positive was the restaurant staff were superb, in particular Katerina, such a shame that the reception staff in particular were absolutely useless. I very rarely give bad reviews ( I have over 230 reviews) but i this was such a poor experience from Hilton, and I am considering disputing some of the cost with American express. AVOID.
Response from Property: Dear Jonmcinern, First and foremost, our sincere apologies for the shortcomings you experienced during your recent stay with us. It saddens us when we fail to meet the needs and expectations of our valued guests and we would like to convey our sincerest apologies to you. We are very disappointed to receive feedback with this observation, nevertheless we will relay your comments to the relevant department for their serious consideration in order to avoid these kind of issues in the future. Please rest assured that your experience is not indicative of the experience so many of our guests have while staying with us. Nevertheless, we hope that you will give us the chance to welcome you back in the future and make it then right for you. Until then, we wish you all the very best With kind regards Barbara Dunner Administration Office on behalf of the Management of Troulis Royal Collection
