Wow, this place was wonderful. We stayed in the Aventino apartment, and it was perfect - like having our own beautiful apartment in Rome. It was fully stocked with waters, beverages, even milk in the fridge, everything you could want in the kitchen, gorgeous bathrooms, comfortable beds. And it was one of the quietest apartment in a city that I have ever stayed in. We had full access to the villa, including the fitness room, the library (I highly suggest getting a glass of wine and sitting in the library before going out at night - you will feel like royalty!) and we even got breakfast - a huge buffet with eggs, prosciutto, cakes, coffee. It was amazing. The location was great - we could walk to the forum in one direction and the trevi fountain in the other. A wonderful stay

This hotel is nothing less than amazing. From the moment you enter this beautiful building the level of hospitality is unrivaled. The building itself is a historical gem and the service from every individual is warm and professional. We look forward to returning whenever we are in Rome.

We stayed 4 nights in the Aventino apartment which is seperate from the main Villa. We did not spend much time in the main building and so glad we did not book a room there. The Villa itself is very old and dated. Whe you arrive you need to ring a bell to enter. The whole vibe of the place was not something we like but again we do not spend much time in the main building. The whole experience outside of the amazing accommodations in the apartment was a little off. I will say staying in the apartment was great but it is like living in the historic center of rome with a resturaunt and other residential properties around it so it can be a little loud late at night. I would recommend the apartment if you are looking for more space than a traditional hotel room and traveling with a larger group but I would not recommend staying in the main building unless you like very old historic properties.

I normally avoid boutique hotels because I prefer the anonymity and amenities of larger-scale hotels. I booked a reservation at Villa Spalletti due to its proximity to the Caravaggio exhibition nearby and I'm so glad I did. Villa Spalletti is like a throw-back to an earlier era of travel and leisure. It has gracious sitting rooms on the main level, leading to an outdoor patio. There is a self-service station for drinks all day and each room is stocked with a complimentary mini bar. Continental breakfast is included in the morning. Bed turn-down service is provided at night. Although I was travelling alone, it seemed like most the other guests were couples travelling together. I was extended warm hospitality as a single traveller but it certainly would have been ever nicer to partake Villa Spalletti's gracious accommodations with a companion.

I reserved a room at The Villa Spalletti Trivelli in August 2024 for a visit over Easter 2025. I understood their policy of taking a deposit and had no problem with that. We had been looking forward our stay. Unfortunately, our plans changed and I had to cancel our reservation in March 2025, well within The VSP’s stated cancellation without charge period. I have not yet received a refund of my deposit, despite two emails from the hotel signed by “Franco” assuring me that it was being processed. Each of these emails stated a time period in which the refund should have been processed and which were meaningless. I also contacted Hilton reservations as well as AMEX to get this done. Management of The VSP has a habit of responding indignantly and somewhat aggressively to negative reviews online. However, I have all of the emails and records to support my claim and urge readers to keep that in mind as they read their inevitable response. I would advise travelers to tread carefully in dealing with this hotel.

Very warm welcome to this fantastic small hotel. I was able to shower in the gym with early morning arrival. The room is spacious and quiet with all modern equipment despite the fact that this is a 100 years old villa. The breakfast is excellent. The complementary minibar is also well equipped. Walking distance to great restaurants and attractions. Highly recommended

The beautiful Villa Spalletti Trivelli is in a perfect location for exploring Rome, near the Trevi Fountain and Colosseum, yet in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood. The rooms and common spaces are spacious, elegant and beautifully decorated with antiques and gorgeous tapestries. The hotel staff are kind and professional and anticipate the needs of the guests. The complementary drinks at the bar were a highlight of our evenings at Villa Spaletti Trivelli. I will never stay anywhere else in Rome. I cannot wait to return!
Response from Property: Thank you very much for the beautiful feedback! we are very happy that you enjoyed your stay with us and cannot wait to welcome you back to your Roman home. thank you for your support.

The Villa Spalletti Trivelli is a great base for exploring Rome as you are within an easy 1km of almost every main attraction. The hotel is extremely well kept and has the advantage of a rooftop area for drinks as well as a very nice garden to have breakfast if you do not want the air-conditioned dining room. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We were in Rome for 4 days and found walking was easier than taxis due to the traffic. the quality and variety of options for Breakfast was very good and provided a good start to the day. Our room was on the 3rd floor and very spacious with 2 vanities in the bathroom which made life so much more enjoyable! I was originally concerned as this is a small hotel but am now so glad we booked this. There is also a Michelin rated restaurant next door and several close by.

Fabulous location in central Rome close to the significant sites to see. I had contacted the villa by email 3 times before arriving asking which catacomb is the best to visit, whether there is an iron in the apartment we booked and some other simple questions. Two emails went unanswered and one email was referred to an outsourced company with no reply to the questions. It is not the service I have ever received from a concierge. It did feel as if we were some what of a burden by some of the staff but there were two very pleasant front desk staff who made up for it. The Villa is beautiful and the original fittings and fixtures are tasteful. It is a shame that the introduction of modern furniture has been done without consideration and with lack of guidance. For example the outdoor furniture is cheap horrible synthetic furniture from China which is burning hot to sit on. You’re in Italy why not invest in a quality European product Kettal, Gubi, Hay to mention just a few. The guidance of an interior architect would be of benefit to Villa Spalletti. I wouldn’t rule out staying here again but would look elsewhere.
Response from Property: Dear Guest, I would like to thank you for the lovely words about the Villa, especially regarding our location, which makes a difference when enjoying Rome. On the other hand, I cannot hide our disappointment with the rest of your review as it contains several false statements. We never understood why you would make things up to try and make someone else look bad, especially as during your stay you had no formal complaint. You mentioned contacting us via email three times before your arrival to request various tours and information. You also stated that we never replied to two of these three emails. I am sorry to say that this is simply not true. We have replied to every single email you sent, both via *********** and directly. Our only fault was when our night porter mistakenly answered only one of your questions regarding a tour and missed the one about the iron. For this, we sincerely apologize. We put you in touch with one of our best guides to make arranging your tour easier and more transparent. There were over 20 messages exchanged between you and our team ahead of your stay, starting on April 10 until the date of your arrival at the end of June, none of which went unanswered. Lastly, our partner guide came into play after 18 of these messages. I am not sure what else you expected from a Concierge service. Our staff is trained to respect guests' privacy and tranquility, hence we keep away unless the guest needs us. This is the style of service the Villa has adopted since its inception and will continue to uphold. The staff at the Villa is and always will be one of our strongest added values. I will avoid addressing the “lack of guidance” and “introduction of modern furniture has been done without consideration” comments as they are neither constructive criticism nor suggestions I just want to say that the Villa has retained all its original furniture (some pieces dating all the way back to the 17th century) with very few touches of contemporary furniture added to lighten the atmosphere by our architect. Your knowledge about outdoor furniture is clearly limited as you described our rooftop furniture as cheap synthetic China-made furniture, which could not be further from reality. All our outdoor furniture is from an Italian brand called Talenti, one of the very best in Italy and Europe. I am not sure how a person so passionate about architecture and stylish furniture could possibly mistake them for “cheap and synthetic”.

This place feels like you’ve been invited to your best friend’s house and they have created the most beautiful stay for you. We have been travelling through Paris and Italy for 4 weeks from North to South and by far my husband and I agree this is the best place we’ve stayed at. The property is phenomenal, the rooms are so comfortable and beautiful, the staff treat you like you’re the only one in the room, the location is perfect and within the safest area possible. It’s also so close to Trevi Fountain, Colluseum, great restaurants and I could go on. Oh and I can’t forget it’s quiet so you will get a perfect nights sleep! I could go on, but as an extensive traveller I can assure you this will exceed your expectations.

There is no doubt, Villa Spalletti Trivelli is a beautiful hotel. On a positive note, we had a very nice and comfortable room. The breakfast was very good too and so were the members of staff serving breakfast. The Reception staff could be so much better for such a high-stardard hotel. The hotel was quite empty and we had the impression, nobody really cared who we were or how were finding the hotel. Again, at this level you expect the staff to at least show some enthusiasm and helpful attitude towards their guests. The sauna was turned off so we had to request to turn it on two hours ahead. We did so but it was still pretty cold. Again, nothing terribly wrong, just maybe train the Reception staff a bit better.
Response from Property: Dear sir, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience on tripadvisor. We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay and that you loved the breakfast. We regret to say that during your stay the hotel was almost fully booked, not empty. The beauty of the villa and what 99% of our guests love the most is that even when it is full you don't feel like it is and you will always find a quiet space just for you and your family. Our reception staff, on the contrary of what you state, is highly trained. We spend on average 3-6 months training our reception staff and the core of their training is on how service in an 1900's aristocratic private house works: staff is never to be seen nor heard unless requested (hence all the practical buttons in every room, similar to the old bell system that used to be in place in this type of villas). We never intrude in your privacy while always keeping an eye out if you need something. The motto at Villa Spalletti Trivelli is: treat it like you own it. We hope this clarifies your perplexity regarding our reception staff and hope to welcome you back in the future should you wish to experience the Villa again. Best Regards,
