We wanted a hotel with breathtaking views away from the heart of town. This place fit the bill perfectly. Check in was easy. There was some brief explanation about the restaurant hours and their town shuttle times, but all of this information is on a brochure in your room. The rooms were bright and cheerful. They do require you to put your room key in a slot to get electricity to the room (so keep your curtains drawn if you're out to keep the room cool). AC worked fine. Bed was quite comfy. The view from our balcony....I could have stared at it all day. Heavenly. We did not use the pool, but it looked wonderful. There is also a hot tub on the other side of the pool area. There's a spacious poolside bar/lounge that serves sandwiches in the off-times between lunch and dinner. I highly recommended their limoncello spritzes! We had a fun time after dinner with the bar staff watching Napoli's football team on the bar TV. Breakfast is in the main dining area. It has an old school banquet hall vibe with white tablecloths and chair covers. The servers there were top notch. Breakfast had the usual hot breakfast foods and a massive table of all kinds of sweets (pastries, cakes, etc). Dinner was also delicious. The menu has section of chef's recommendations, and they were spot-on. The hotel has a shuttle to the heart of downtown Sorrento that runs every half hour, with breaks in the afternoon and around dinner. It picks you up across the street from the hotel. Getting the shuttle back to the hotel can be a bit confusing because other hotels pick up at the same spot, but all of the drivers are very friendly and helpful. In fact, one night a driver for another hotel's bus agreed to take us to the hotel because the hotel bus was either full or running behind. It seems like they all work together to help out the visitors. I highly recommend Grand Hotel Aminta for a quiet, relaxing visit to Sorrento.

Loved staying at this hotel! The staff is super helpful, the place is bright and beautiful (and clean!) and they have a wonderful breakfast buffet in the morning. They have a pool and hot tub and a pool bar where you can get a nice Aperol spritz in the evening and enjoy the panoramic views. Now this hotel is up in the hillside from Sorrento but they provide a shuttle bus every hour that drops you off near the shopping district in town. From there it's easy to get to the shops, restaurants and piers. We felt the extra travel up the hill was worth it because of the views and the fact that is was a little quieter in the late evenings. Especially thankful to Vittoria and Loren at the front desk - they were both amazing! Will 100% stay here again when I come back to Sorrento!

Great hotel. Staff were superb, especially the guys at the poolside bar. There were a couple of small issues like the terrible pizza at lunch and some mosaic tiles coming off the steps at the pool which we just put down to wear and tear at the end of a busy season. Breakfast was great and plenty of choice. Because it's a small hotel, all the guests got to know each other quite well and we ended up becoming good friends with some of them which just made our holiday all the more special. There is a free buss that takes you to back and forth from Sorrento and have read some reviews where people have moaned about the grumpy driver. Indeed, he did at first come across this way but after we made it our mission to make him laugh by the end of our stay (which we did), we discovered he's actually a really nice guy so please don't be too quick to judge. All on all, we can't recommend this place highly enough and we came home with some memories that will stay with us forever. Thanks to everyone involved.

Just back from a week staying at Aminta. The pros: The hotel is extremely clean and well maintained, and the staff are courteous, warm and friendly, especially at breakfast and the gentlemen helping provide towels and umbrellas around the pool. The pool area is lovely and quiet with plenty of available sunbeds. The beds were very comfy, and the Alexa in the room was a nice touch. The breakfast was fine, if a little repetitive - there was a lovely fruit salad available on our first day, which never appeared again which was a shame (maybe it's only there on Saturdays?). The shuttle bus is a welcome service, as the hotel is quite a way into the mountains, though I did wonder why it didn't run over lunchtime or between 9.30pm and 11.30pm which felt like peak times. The cons: As I said, the shuttle was a welcome service as the hotel is set quite a way from town - we walked it twice and it took roughly 30 mins, but I definitely couldn't do it on a very hot day, nor would I want to do it in the dark. Because of the hotel's location, there isn't really anything else around, which meant on the days we spent by the pool, we were restricted to eating lunch at the hotel - I found the food to be quite overpriced for what it was. In the room itself, the curtains didn't quite meet to block out the sun, and there was nowhere in the bathroom to hang up your towels. The shower could have been more powerful. My biggest gripe however feels quite minor, but it did bother me quite a bit: for a hotel that claims to be environmentally conscious (signs in the bathroom not to waste water, reuse towels etc), they replaced the toilet roll every day, even when the roll was half used. This feels very wasteful to me. All in all, this was a fine hotel as a base in Sorrento, but should we return to Sorrento, I think I would prefer to stay more centrally to give ourselves more flexibility in visiting the main restaurants and port area.

Fabulous hotel and staff go that extra mile. Loved every minute. Will definitely return. Always greeted with a smile and felt like we were royalty. Food was fab, especially the buffet breakfast. Stunning views as it’s set high up, which is great and gave the legs a great work out. There is also a shuttle should you need it. All in a fab week. We’ll be back.

This was booked to celebrate a special birthday and obviously expectations were high. I can honestly say that the hotel was everything we hoped for. We were in the Annex which is literally a 3 minute walk ,through beautiful gardens, from the main hotel. The view from our room was wonderful. We had Versuvius to the right of us and the Bay of Naples in front. A great place to enjoy the sunsets. The room was a decent size with 2 king size beds! There was a minibar, tea and coffee making facilities and an Alexa..which was great for checking the weather and playing music. The bathroom had a bath with shower over it and a huge sink. The swimming pool area and terrace were always clean and the staff attentive. There is a shuttle bus into town every hour ..though you can walk down in 20 to 25 minutes. Breakfast was fine for our needs. Plenty of choice..I did take in my own lactose free milk but was told by the head waiter they could have provided it. If I had to find any minus points it would be that the drinks in the bar aren't cheap, the lunchtime menu could do with more light meal options such as baguettes and it would be nice if the shuttle bus had 2 drop off and pick up points so you could explore the outer part of Sorrento...but these points certainly didn't spoil what was a fabulous holiday.

I was glad that I booked a sea view as I think this was the best feature of the hotel. Other notable positives were: comfortable bed, breakfast selection, cleanliness of room, the heated pool and jacuzzi, bus transport to and from town, housekeeping staff (always greeted us), two of the staff: Alex the bus driver (such a polite and helpful gentleman) and the waiter with the tea/coffee trolley at breakfast and the dessert trolly in the evening. Areas for improvement: we generally found wait and bar staff to be unsmiling and not particularly friendly. Our balcony was not cleaned once during our 4-night stay. Opening and closing times for your pool are not reasonable for guests who come back after a day of sightseeing and want a swim after 7pm. Bathroom was very small compared to other hotels and the glass shower screen over the bath is not functional. Compared to other hotels we have stayed at during this trip lasting many months, across all parts of Europe, you hotel has been expensive and not good value for money.

We booked a package through Riviera Travel, and, looking at prices for this hotel on other sites, we got extremely good value. We paid extra for a sea view with sunset balcony standard room. We ended up with a very large room, which, when we saw the settlement bill for extras, was actually a superior room with two double beds. I am quite fussy abut beds but these were exactly the right firmness, with the pure cotton linens that I love. Always made with immaculately clean sheets by a very particular maid. Lovely tiled floor and bathroom. The waiters in the dining room treated us like royalty, and my dairy/egg free diet was catered for beautifully, with chef even bringing forth delightful desserts made specially for me. The big highlight was breakfast. I could not have asked for more variety and attentive service. The pool was warm and in the sun, and so clean, with free towels provided, and plenty of sunbeds. We discovered the hot tub, and, after the sun started to dip. this was a welcome, and romantic place to relax. Not plastic but rather a custom built tiled affair, reminiscent of a roman bath. We wanted for nothing, and small issues were dealt with by the staff apparently effortlessly. I would recommend using the courtesy bus to head into Sorrento, which operated hourly through the morning and late afternoon. No pavements in a lot of places so walking not advised. We left a large tip at the end for the service staff and maid, and they seemed to appreciate it. I hope others do the same. They made our holiday so special.

This is an amazing hotel, we got real 5 star treatment, we arrived early and said no problem will let us know when room ready, even dropped bags to room!. Location is great short walk to town or shuttle bus. Staff always happy to please, and with a smile everyday. We checked out early and gave breakfast bags to go for the morning! This hotel was perfect in every way and made our holiday a real enjoyable experience.

This smaller hotel is owned by a family and you can certainly tell by the attentive, friendly staff - nothing is too much trouble. What really sells this place though is the location - high above the Bay of Naples, overlooking Sorrento and its harbour with the Isle of Capri to the west, and the most spectacular sunsets. Please don’t be put off by the fact that it is high up - there is a free hotel minibus that runs every hour down to Sorrento and picks up hourly from the town. The only steps in the hotel itself are the half a dozen leading up to the main doors - everything is either on the flat or accessible by lifts. The rooms are beautiful. The ones with the best view are higher up (there are only 4 floors). We had 403 which had a large balcony overlooking the bay and pool. We had daily maid service and things you wouldn’t expect like an Alexa which played music, gave the weather for the next day etc. There are more than enough sun beds round the pool (the ones on the left have the sun all day) in fact by 10.30 am there were often only a couple of people there. There is pool waiter service and you can have lunch in an area overlooking the pool. Free daily towels are also provided and the sun beds have little sun shades to shield your face. When we were there there were no children other than a very tiny baby - the hotel isn’t really set up for children or teenagers with no ball games or inflatables in the pool. If you want a quiet holiday this is perfect. We had a very early checkout and were provided with a packed breakfast. Now to the food. In honesty I think this is what makes this a 4 + star hotel rather than a 5 star. Don’t get me wrong the food is plentiful but uninspiring. Breakfast is a buffet and has all you need but dinner is very formulaic with variations on a theme each evening - there is a choice of 5 staters, 3 mains and 3 desserts. There is an a la cart menu as an alternative which is much better but you do have to pay extra. A couple of nights we decided to take the minibus down to Sorrento to experience different restaurant choices. Please don’t let this put you off - this is an absolutely beautiful hotel and you will have the real experience of Italy. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Had a 10 day break here in May 2024, and honestly cannot fault it Stunning location high up with breathtaking views , this hotel stands out literally from all over Sorrento. The hotel is spotless throughout the rooms were cleaned daily. Sunset sea view room is a must, what a treat every evening…worth the little bit extra. We went for half board and the food was excellent. The pool was heated so even on chillier days it was still lovely to have a dip. There is a shuttle bus which takes you into town every hour from morning until evening for free. This is a huge save considering a taxi cost around 25 -30 euros down to the harbour. What makes this hotel Stand out more than the above is the staff…each and every one of them were helpful, friendly, polite and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Aminta for an excellent stay…we will be back for sure. Mr & Mrs Birks Room 311
