I loved that the place is near the railway station. Easy to find. The beds have curtains around to give privacy and prevent being glared by light as the room didn’t have window curtains. I arrived late so I could not comment on the cleanliness of the room and toilet. It has been used by the others. The water pressure from the shower was great although the toilet/shower is small.

This is my 3rd night and the staff are very friendly and very helpful the rooms and bathrooms are spotless and very cheap and would recommend for anyone wanting to explore the area

The interior decoration of this youth hostel is nice and the price is relatively affordable. Because there are many tourists in York on weekends, the beds are limited. I reluctantly booked a mixed room for 6 people, but I was unlucky because I seemed to be the only woman in the room, and there was a man who snored loudly, talked to himself, and got up at 3 o'clock in the morning and turned on the light, which made the sleeping experience very bad. It should be noted that the toilet and bathroom in this youth hostel are very small and are shared by 6 people in the room, not the kind of shared on the same floor, which is very inconvenient.

Because it was a few minutes walk from the train station, and I had to catch the train to Iyork at 3pm the next morning, I tried to book a place closest to the station. It was my first time staying in a dormitory, and I felt it was OK, quite quiet. I regretted booking it on Ctrip for more than 30 pounds, as the people in the same room all cost more than 10 pounds.

The room was quite big. Not far from the station. But a little far from the city center.

The environment, hygiene and service of York Youth Hostel are very good. The only drawback is that the floor drain in the bathroom is not smooth and toilet paper is sometimes not available.

The environment is very quiet, there is no noise at night, except for the inconvenience of not having clothes hangers, everything else is good.

The location is 10-15 minutes' walk from the train station, the wifi is ok... the price/performance ratio is ok, and each bed has light shade. Pretty good among hostels

had a great stay with a few friends. Beds were clean and comfy. Place had a great vibe, lovely old building right in the centre of York. Staff were great, helped out with some recommendations. Thanks to Owen for recommending enotecta, great place to eat. Will definitely stay again if I come back to York!

I’m very glad I didn’t get to make a booking here. I asked to choose an accessible lower bed and they wanted to make an extra charge for this. I’ve stayed in hostels all over the world and never had to pay anything extra for an accessibility request. The reception team are now refusing to deal with any further emails. I don’t know whether they make extra charges for upper bunks or just for lower bunks but to me, this smacks of disability discrimination. I’ve been reading the TripAdvisor reviews and it sounds like a dreadful place.
