Been coming here for a while now. Still like the outdoor seating by the playground, easy when the kids need to run around. Smoking area's a plus too. Not fancy, but that's fine by me.

Stopped by after the ownership change—breakfast was solid, but lunch surprised me more. Menu feels fresher, not the same old stuff. Also noticed they’re open some evenings now, which is handy. Glad I gave it another shot.

We popped in a few times during the week. Currywurst was solid, schnitzel crispy, and the surf and turf surprisingly fresh. Staff stayed friendly even when it got packed. Only thing, service slows down a bit when they're busy, but that's understandable. Good spot if you're in the area.

We finally tried this place after coming to the island for years. The portions are really generous for the price, which I appreciated. Staff were friendly and made it feel easy, you know? Just a relaxed spot to sit and eat without any fuss. Only thing was it got a bit busy later, but that's fine. Solid choice.

The lunch deal here is solid for the price—savory and sweet bites plus a smoothie and coffee. Everything tasted fresh. I paired mine with a glass of their house red, which worked nicely with the sweeter dishes. Only downside: the wait. It got pretty busy around noon, so come early if you're in a hurry.

Been coming here for a while now. Jeffery still remembers my usual order, that’s why I keep coming back. Beer suggestion was on point again, not too heavy for a Tuesday night. Place gets busy but he handles it fine. Just wish they’d open the back windows when it’s warm, gets a bit stuffy.

Wonderful restaurant!!! The chef's menu is superb...can chose between 2-5 courses. We had 3 courses...next time I will opt for 5 courses. Everything is prepared and presented with great care and attention to detail. Brilliant flavours!! The service is IMPECCABLE!!! ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!! Our server made us feel that we were the only one's in the restaurant...even though it was quite busy. Very friendly, attentive, and happy. Thank you for the wonderful service!!! The atmosphere of the restaurant is so very warm, cozy, and elegant. Always come to Basserie SPH when visiting, and never disappointed. Can't wait to come back. Thank you for a nice evening!!

Central location, easy to find. Breakfast buffet was solid, plenty of options. East Frisian tea was a nice touch. Service fine, nothing to complain about.

The set menu here is the way to go. Each dish felt well thought out, and the wine pairing actually worked with the food. Nice spot on the island.

Came here three times. Burgers were solid, lamb rack was decent too. The all-you-can-eat schnitzel day is the real deal. Fireplace inside makes it cozy. Food's good, nothing fancy but does the job.

The croissants are always warm and really good. Just a heads up, the big cappuccino comes in a latte glass and tastes more like plain coffee. Still, I left happy.

The nachos are still my go-to here. 13.5 bucks and a solid pile of them every time. Staff's been on point lately too.

The Turkish eggs were seriously good. That garlic yogurt with the runny yolk just worked. I kept dipping bread in it until nothing was left. Place was a bit busy but whatever. Would come back just for that dish.

Coffee’s solid here—proper Lavazza, which I appreciate. Easy to find in the center, decent spot for a slow morning. Would’ve liked a bigger cup though.

Great spot to sip a wine and watch the ferries roll in. View over to Juist and Norderney is lovely. Service friendly, though it gets hectic right before departure.

The waffles with toppings on the side were such a smart move—everything stayed crispy. Nice quiet spot in the middle of the city.

Good tapas selection, authentic Spanish flavors. Service was attentive without hovering. Decent spot for a quick business lunch.

Quiet terrace out back is the real selling point—nice to sit there without street noise. Food was solid, prices fair. Good spot if you're in Esens.

Came here twice for breakfast while staying nearby. Food was fresh and nicely plated, prices fair. Staff actually remembered us the second time — that was a nice touch.

Stumbled in here on our last day. Buffet had a solid variety, everything tasted fresh. Dessert corner was small but really good. Staff kept checking on us. Wish we had this spot back home.

The brownie and avocado toast were really good, coffee too. Service was a bit slow but the vibe is nice enough that I didn't mind waiting.

Nice terrace for brunch, sunny side of the street. They sorted our dietary stuff without fuss. Basque cheesecake was the highlight though.

We’ve been coming here for years, and the food’s still solid. Portions are big, no question. It’s not cheap, but you’re paying for the quality. The courtyard out back is the main reason we keep coming back—nice spot to sit when the weather’s good. Service was a bit slow last time, but nothing to complain about.

The terrace is lovely on a sunny day, all flowers and quiet. Staff were friendly, and the homemade bread with seasoned butter was a nice touch.

Food quality’s definitely improved—flavors were solid. Staff friendly enough. Decent pick for Mexican in Groningen.
