When I booked this, it escaped me that it was situated in the Café Royal Hotel. What a beautiful setting, on the balcony of the main reception to the hotel; and what history. Adorning the walls are memorabilia of days gone by and the rich and famous, who frequented the hotel. For instance, adjacent the dining area is an annexe that was home to the final performance of David Bowie as his alter ego, Ziggy Stardust. Elsewhere, there are pictures of Lulu, Mick Jagger and Lou Reed and many others. We chose to eat from the set menu and the food was superb. Service was swift without being rushed, and tables are well spaced so even when busy there is no feeling of being cramped, indeed quite intimate at our generous round (as many of them are) table. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant as a must see place, and we’ll be back too as it’s just too good for a one off visit. As a post matinee theatre dinner, this was perfect for us, a haven in an otherwise bustling area of London.

Had the full English breakfast here. Portions are generous for the price, and the staff were really welcoming. The bacon was cooked just right, not too crispy. A solid, classic breakfast spot.

A decent spot for a quiet coffee. The selection of savouries and cakes is fine, and the location is pretty good. Coffee portions are generous. It felt a bit tucked away, but that adds to the relaxed feel.

A solid spot for a quick bite before a flight. The scones were good, tea was hot. Full breakfast and tea service available. Prices are fair. Convenient location made it a repeat stop for me.

The seafood linguine was the standout. Fresh clams, perfectly al dente pasta, a light but flavourful white wine sauce. Really hit the spot. They do have a decent gluten-free pasta option too, which is good to see. The place was packed, so things did take a while.

Flat white's always on point. Kennedy's a legend, makes you feel right at home. Good spot to park up with the laptop for a bit. Quick, no fuss.

Nice quick lunch spot. The chicken schnitzel came out fast and was crispy. Good portion for the price. Staff were friendly, got my order right away. The brownie was decent, a bit dry though. Solid for a quick bite.

The ruby hot chocolate is lovely. The seats are comfy too, which makes for a relaxed visit.

Grabbed the chicken bagel (pollo Italiana) on my lunch break. Perfect quick bite, really hit the spot. Coffee was good, space is chill. Staff were nice. Just what I needed.

Popped in for brunch after the garden centre. The outdoor seating was lovely in the sun. Full English was decent, but the bacon was a bit overdone for my taste. Good coffee though.

Popped in for a cake and ended up staying for two. They're just so fresh and light, not overly sweet at all. That lemon drizzle slice was something else. The whole place has such a cosy, welcoming vibe, perfect for a quiet afternoon.

Love the vibe here for catching up with friends. The Italian-Korean fusion is a fun twist, and the coffee is really smooth.

Been coming here for years, and the orange juice is always fresh and lovely. It’s a small thing, but it’s consistently good.

Been here a few times. It's clean and tidy, plenty of space to move around. Having their own toilet is a big plus, saves you having to go out somewhere else. Makes it easy for a quick lunch.

Really liked the freshness here. The ingredients felt top-notch, especially in the grilled octopus starter. It was simple but so flavourful. A bit pricey for the portion, but you can taste the quality.

Really nice vibe here, feels like dropping by a friend's place. Staff are super friendly.

Staff remembered my usual order. That personal touch makes a difference. Friendly without being overbearing. Just a solid, welcoming vibe every time.

Decent spot with generous portions. The lasagna was pretty good, and Halil is very welcoming. The jam rollie pollie was a nice touch.

Been coming here for years. The smoothies are consistently good, which is why I keep coming back.

The vegan naan wrap is the thing to get. The bread is fresh and soft, not dry at all. The spiced chickpea filling has a good kick to it, and the mint chutney cuts through it nicely. A solid choice if you're after something plant-based.

Nice spot for a catch-up with friends. Staff are quick and friendly, especially in the mornings.

The veggie breakfast is a solid choice. Portions are generous, I couldn't finish it all. The sourdough toast was really fresh and tasty. For the price, you get a lot on the plate.

Love it here so much! The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food is lovely. There’s a great selection of drinks and food too!

The flat white was spot on, but the real star was their cold brew. The in-house roast gives it a smooth, complex finish that’s perfect for a slow afternoon. Paired it with a simple pastry, and it just worked.

The full English here is my go-to for a quick lunch. Huge portions, cooked fast. Gets me through the afternoon.

The queue was pretty long on a Saturday, but we didn't mind waiting with friends. It gave us time to catch up! The scones were so warm and fluffy, just perfect with clotted cream. A really nice spot for a casual afternoon.

Nice quiet spot, tucked away but still easy to find. Had the veggie platter, everything tasted really fresh. Good for a relaxed lunch away from the crowds.

We travelled from Suffolk to attend a wedding at Islington Town Hall. The location of the cafe was ideal. It was an extremely enjoyable visit with lovely food and friendly helpful staff. Highly recommended.

The coffee is seriously good here. My friend and I popped in for a catch-up and I asked for an extra shot in my latte - the barista was so nice about it, even though I was being a bit fussy. Perfect spot for a relaxed coffee with mates.
