The bottomless brunch deal is pretty good. Cocktails and beers are decent, and the bar staff were on it with the refills. Just wish the food came out a bit quicker, but the drinks kept flowing.

If you don&rsquo;t know about Wetherspoon&rsquo;s pubs, restaurants and hotels, they are budget friendly,  no frills establishments many in repurposed banks, shops, high street offices etc. This offering in Exeter is a little different though. The setting, in quite extensive well maintained gardens, is a large old house that used to belong in turn to various professional people. The building has been remodelled and added to over the years. The spectacular cast iron orangery where you can dine from breakfast to dinner time was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the Great Western Railways chief engineer in Victorian times. It was originally part of the main building of Exeter university but was moved here many years ago. Food was up to the usual standard at Wetherspoons and served on the distinctive crockery which was specially designed for the company. My youngest daughter and I ate here several times over a three day trip to view the university. We ate both breakfast and dinner here. I thoroughly recommend having at least a drink or preferably something to eat here if you are in Exeter.☕️ A tip is that your tea, coffee or hot chocolate is bottomless and at the time of writing was only 1.81 GBP per cup.

Steak was decent for the price, and the unlimited chips were a nice bonus. 👍
