Cash only — that almost got us at the end. Luckily I had enough on me, but definitely come prepared. The food itself was solid though, and the place had a nice buzz to it. Just wish they’d put up a sign or something before you sit down. Would’ve saved us the awkward moment at the register.

Good value, though it gets loud and busy. Kinda part of the charm though. Solid spot to kick off the night.

The portions are really generous for the price, that's for sure. We sat outside under the trees, which was lovely on a sunny afternoon. Staff were friendly and didn't rush us at all. Just a heads up, it can get a bit busy around noon, but it's worth it. I'd come back again.

We stopped by for dinner on a rainy evening. The dining room is really cozy, that warm country inn feel. I had the roasted vegetable plate, just wished there were a bit more greens on it. Ingredients tasted fresh, simple and clean. Prices are fair for the quality. Staff let us take our time, no rush at all. 🌿

Decent spot for German food, prices are fair. We showed up around 10pm and it was still pretty busy. Staff were friendly enough. Had a few different dishes, all solid. Nothing mind-blowing, but it did the job. Fine if you're in the area and want something straightforward.

Great spot for a beer with a view. Self-service and you can take the lift up. Food was meh but who cares when the sunset looks like that. Cold beer did the job.

We had our wedding dinner here with 30 guests. David's team took care of everything so smoothly. The food was fresh and well-prepared.

The spaghetti di mare hit the spot—al dente, loaded with seafood. Washed it down with a decent glass of white wine. Bruschetta was solid too. Pizza's not the most authentic, but the crust was crispy enough.

Pizza was solid. Crust crispy, toppings fresh, one of the better ones I've had in Freiburg. Price matched the quality, no complaints there. Service was efficient, got in and out during lunch without waiting long. If you're in the area and want a decent pie without the fuss, this works.

Stopped by for lunch, had the schnitzel. Portion was huge, definitely not leaving hungry. Cordon bleu looked good too, maybe next time. Place was busy but we got seated fast. Solid choice if you want classic German food without any fuss.

We popped in for a quick dinner and honestly, the schnitzel was the star. Huge portion, crispy, exactly what I needed after a long day. The place has that proper old-school vibe, nothing fancy but cozy. Staff were super nice even though my German is basically non-existent. Only thing, it got a bit loud later. Still, solid spot for a casual catch-up with friends.

The interior is charming, no doubt. We sat outside and it felt right. Waffles were the highlight—crispy, not too sweet. Staff left us alone until we needed them, which I appreciated. Only thing: the coffee took a while. But I’d still pick this spot again.

Stopped here for lunch after a walk around the lake. The terrace view is really nice. I had the schnitzel, pretty hearty portion. But the Black Forest cake was the highlight—honestly the best one I tried during my whole trip. Wish I had room for a second slice.

Nice little Biergarten, green and pretty quiet. Food was solid, nothing crazy but good enough. Spent a few hours there without even noticing. Parking's a bit of a pain though, had to circle around. Wouldn't mind coming back on a sunny day.

The aged pork chop was spot on—tender, juicy, really flavorful. Pascal took good care of us too. Cozy traditional spot.

Fresh food and fair prices for being right in the city center. The vegetarian options were a nice surprise, and the staff actually knew their menu. Had a decent glass of wine with it, nothing fancy but paired well enough.

The lamb shank was the reason I came here and it didn’t disappoint. Fell right off the bone, sauce was rich without being too heavy. Place was busy for a weekday evening, but the service kept up fine. Only thing—the sides were a bit basic for the price. Still, solid stop if you’re in the area after the baths.

Went after the chef change and honestly impressed. The plating on every dish looked like actual art. Service was warm too.

Decent little place with a seasonal menu that changes often. We had a few dishes and everything was pretty good. Getting there by elevator is easy, which helps. Solid choice if you're in the area and want a relaxed dinner. Maybe not mind-blowing, but fine for what it is.

Came here around 5:30 and got a table right away. Mango salad was fresh, nice crunch. Food came out quick, which I appreciated. Small spot, nothing fancy, but it works for a fast bite. Would stop by again if I'm in the area.

Been coming here for a while now. The carbonara is still as good as the first time I tried it. Pizzas are solid too. Terrace is a nice spot when the weather cooperates. Prices are fair for what you get, nothing crazy. Just a dependable place to grab dinner without overthinking it.

Been coming here for years and the schnitzel never disappoints. Portions are huge, so skip breakfast. Service is always friendly too.

The beef was really tender and full of flavour. Pricey though, and they charge extra for jacket potato toppings. Quality's good, just feels a bit much on top of an already expensive meal.

The menu’s small but has a few interesting picks—I went for the truffle pasta and it was properly rich. Staff checked in just enough without hovering. Slightly on the pricey side, but the quality holds up. I’d come back if I’m craving that dish again.

The restaurant's warm hospitality and delicious food create a delightful dining experience. The tapas were fantastic, and the terrace is a beautiful place to enjoy a meal.

Melina and Sasha knew their wine list inside out—pairings were spot on. Probably the best meal we had in Basel, honestly. Just wish the tables weren't packed so close together.

Maison Kieny offers a delightful culinary journey with its creative dishes that respect seasonal ingredients, making each meal a memorable one.
