I stayed at the Pullman Zhangjiajie hoping for a comfortable, upscale experience, but unfortunately it didn’t meet my expectations.
The main advantage is its location if your priority is visiting Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. However, it’s quite far from many of the other major attractions, so you’ll spend a significant amount of time traveling if you plan to explore the region.
The hotel itself feels very large and impersonal, lacking the charm and personalized service you might expect. Housekeeping could also be improved. There was a thick layer of dust under the bed throughout our stay, and our tea cups were never cleaned or replaced.
Communication was another challenge. Only one receptionist spoke good English, while the others spoke very little, making it difficult to ask questions or get assistance. We also found the service rather unfriendly compared with the excellent hospitality we experienced elsewhere in China.
Breakfast offered a good selection, but the rules were surprisingly strict. Guests were not allowed to take even a piece of fruit or a yogurt out of the breakfast area, which felt unnecessarily rigid.
Overall, while the hotel is convenient for the National Forest Park, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again. If you’re looking for a more welcoming, boutique-style experience with better service, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
