Hotel Palais Porcia

Very nice hotel.

There is one staf who ruins the reputation and good service of the whole hotel, I would go again if I knew that she wasn't there. Good location

The hotel is very old and uncomfortable, lot of noise and dust from nearby and a very poor breakfast- practically you have not what to eat.The employees are unfriendly. All the equipment in the bathroom is very low so if you are 1,62 m or higher it is difficult to use them

The hotel is located in the main Klagenfurt square, a 20-minute walk from the central railway station. The hotel is lavishly decorated, both public areas and rooms, making you feel like a Prince or Princess in a true Royal Palace! Our room was spacious and very comfortable, with a set of canapes in blue velvet and a writing desk. All the furniture was worthy of being in a museum. The bathroom was all in white marble with golden plated taps. A true luxury. All spaces are incredibly well maintained. Wi-Fi access was fast. The buffet-style breakfast is served in a real banquet hall. The staff is friendly and extremely attentive, making sure that nothing is missing. A real Royal experience not to be missed if you are planning to stay in Klagenfurt.

We called the hotel to ask for a triple room and we got a quotation of 180€. As I spent a lot of nights there from 2007 to 2014, and I had not slept there since, we decided to give it a go. Once we arrived there the lady at the reception vividly recommended us to put the bikes in the garage (she stressed it four times, four!!!) so, even recalling that Klagenfurt is quite a tranquil city, we decided to do so; also because she stated that we would pay only from 7 on, basically a few euros with the coupon from the hotel. So when we went to check out today the first surprise was that the room was 200 € and not 180€ (207 with the taxes), we told the lady and she replied that we were 3 persons so it would be 200€. I told her about the phone conversation but she said nothing. Once we proceeded to get the bikes from the garage we had the other surprise: it was 11.75€ a piece (we picked up the bikes at 08:15…) So basically we had an unplanned extra of 55.25€ based on a misunderstanding with the lady at the check in. Next time I’ll book through one of the apps now available, so at least the price will be the same at checkout, although I don’t think I’ll be back at the Porcia Palace. That was really a bummer. I would have sent an email instead of this but I couldn’t find an address on line. Definitely not recommended.

All is fake at that place except greed and contempt for the clients. Terrible smell of decline. Clerk made a mistake upon our arrival. Next day the manager try to con us for three times the original price. Only after calling police they reduce demands. Lied through their teeth all the time. Stay away from this place! We can call it the worst experience ever.( We travel a lot all around the world).
