PARKROYAL Penang Resort

Our last hotel in Penang was in Batu Ferringhi. The hotel isn't very large, and the room facilities are a bit dated, but the experience was excellent! First, the resort layout is well-designed; despite its size, the areas are cleverly arranged, creating beautiful views at every turn. There are several swimming pools, including two for children with slides and more. Most importantly, there are staff members consistently present at the slides and by the pools to supervise and maintain order, ensuring children can play safely and securely! Breakfast was also great; although there was a queue during peak hours, the food was delicious and offered a wide variety. The beach bar also had good food, and it was lovely to relax there with the lights on at night. The best part is that the hotel has direct access to the beach and the sea! And the path from the hotel to the sea looks absolutely beautiful when lit up at night. We booked a two-story family room with a lovely balcony. The staff service was also excellent. I'm giving it five stars.

I arrived at the hotel at 9 PM. The front desk staff didn't speak Chinese, but check-in was smooth. My luggage was delivered directly to my room. The room wasn't huge, but the hotel environment was beautiful. Breakfast offered a good variety of options; I recommend going early as there can be a queue in the evening.

The beachfront resort has a great pool with two big slides, which was a lot of fun. There were plenty of lounge chairs and even a ping-pong table. It has its own private beach, and in the evenings, there's a sparklers show.

The Parkroyal is part of the Pan Pacific group. I've stayed at Pan Pacific hotels in Indonesia before and had a fantastic experience, really appreciating their design where hallways facing the ocean lead directly to the beach. The Parkroyal in Penang has been open for some years now, and you can tell by the old carpets on the floor. However, the room setup is still decent, and the pool and hotel environment are beyond reproach; my kids had a wonderful time. The room we were assigned was close to the street, so we constantly heard motorcycles speeding by at night, which was quite noisy. The connecting room also had poor sound insulation, as we could hear the sounds of water being used next door at night. For an occasional vacation, it's still a pretty good option.

A very comfortable hotel. If you arrive early, you can relax in the lobby and enjoy complimentary drinks. The pool downstairs is a favorite for kids, and sometimes you even spot monkeys! It's right by the sea, and in the evenings, there's a fire show. I'll definitely come back again.

The resort is located in the northwest of Penang, about 50-60 minutes from the airport. Getting to and from George Town is a bit inconvenient. The hotel's overall quality is good; the rooms are clean and tidy, which is excellent. It has a swimming pool, a slide, and a gym. The breakfast selection is decent, but the dishes are a bit dirty. The environment outside the hotel is basic, and the road infrastructure is poor.

Don't arrive early for check-in. I got there after 2 PM and had to wait a long time in the lobby. Even though the lobby is open, it was still sweltering hot at noon! They did give me a birthday cake, and the chocolate cake was actually pretty well made. It's a shame there was no bathtub! I completely missed that when booking, especially since most photos online show bathtubs in this hotel... Such a pity!!
