Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku

The location was fantastic! So close to Shinjuku station and Takashimaya Times Square and other shopping centres and restaurants around. Will definitely stay at this hotel again.

I recently stayed at the Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku in Tokyo, and it was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. For a nightly rate of $270, I expected at least some basic hospitality and comfort, but this place delivered nothing but frustration and greed. Let me break it down. First off, the amenities are practically nonexistent. Aside from a smoking room and a massage place (which I didn’t even use), there’s zero to offer. No gym, no pool, no lounge – nothing that justifies the price tag. Even worse, all the toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are stashed in the lobby. Who designs a hotel like that? It makes no sense to force guests to trek downstairs every time they need something basic. It’s lazy and inconsiderate. Check-in was a slog. It took a full 15 minutes, even though the lobby wasn’t busy. The staff seemed disorganized, and by the time I got my key, I was already regretting my choice. When I politely asked for a complimentary late check-out to noon (standard at many hotels), they flat-out refused unless I paid an extra 1000 yen. Seriously? After dropping $270 on a tiny shoebox of a room, they couldn’t comp a simple one-hour extension? It felt like pure corporate greed. The room itself was a joke. Cramped and uninspiring, with a TV that maxes out at volume 35 – barely audible if there’s any street noise outside. But the real kicker came when I ordered McDonald’s delivery after a grueling day of travel. I’d flown in from China to Narita Airport, and the journey into Tokyo was exhausting – traffic, crowds, the works. All I wanted was to unwind in my room. I’d seen they had a food delivery robot, so I assumed my order would be brought up. Nope. Instead, I get a rude call from the lobby agent practically screaming at me to come downstairs and pick it up myself. I was in my pajamas, dead tired, and the last thing I needed was to get dressed and make the trip. When I explained I’d requested roommate delivery, they just brushed it off. Zero empathy, zero hospitality. This hotel is all about squeezing every yen out of guests without providing any real value. It’s corporate and cold, with staff that seem trained to say “no” to everything. If you’re looking for a place in Shinjuku, steer clear – there are far better options out there. I’d give it zero stars if I could. Never again!

Our second stay at this lovely hotel this year says it all. Really enjoyed its convenient location, friendly service, nice amenities and clean spacious room. Thank you for the hospitality and well thought experience for guests!

The hotel is very conveniently located in Shinjuku area, in walking distance to numerous shopping locations, restaurants, and bars. The hotel is clean and the service is friendly. The room is comfortable and large compared to some other hotels in Japan. They have a convenient bus to the airport that picks you up right out front of the hotel. There is a convenience store and restaurant directly across the street. I enjoyed my stay here. It is very close to the metro station.

Great Location and good Service. Room is small but clean. Check Out at 11am but is good for Japan.

Stayed many times here.. room is small but good! Love that there is a screen that tell u if there is any washing machine available, breakfast crowd etc.. room is clean.. love tat the airport limousine bus stop at this hotel.. there are some restaurants/cafe and also macdonalds near the hotel.. walking distance to taka and JR shinjuku station.. really awesome!! Would still stay again
