We have never been to a hotel worse than this in our life! The hotel is in the middle of nowhere - there is NO sign of the hotel name at all. I guess it’s not “nowhere” as it’s right at the construction site (see p1,2 and 3). We did expect the hotel is at a remote location so going ups and downs of dirt trails did not bother us much.
However, without any sign of the hotel, we weren’t able to locate it until there were three men walked out from this construction site claiming this is Ella Ridge View.
Obviously, we were shocked.
After the staff led us to the room, there were more disappointments. The room is so dark even if with lights on. The hotel room is so filthy - one duvet covers with yellow stains and black marks, and the other duvet does not have any cover and it smelled bad.
The shower barely worked - the water pressure was very low and the staff cannot fix it! It took 3 minutes to get hot water and the sink tap has absolutely no hot water. The staff tried to change us to three other rooms - they all have the same issue.
We were woken up by construction workers start working before 8am (see p5).
We had hope for this room as we like hiking and nature. We specifically booked a Mountain View room for our honeymoon.
After spotting all these issues, we tried to troubleshooting with the hotel. However, the response we received from the hotel is that we can apply for refund for the 2nd day (our original booking was for 2 nights). This led us with no option but to apply for refund through Trip.com. When we submitted refund application, we were requested to provide evidence. So we took these pictures.
You will be wrong to think the above is the worst.
The next day, the hotel owner (Lasantha) came to us to explain the refund. However, he was extremely unhappy about our reasons for refund (because we had to submit evidence). My husband said to him “we only did what we were asked to. We thought you come here to offer us an apology. Instead, it seems you want to insult us because you’re angry about the photos in the complaint. We will not even mention this in our review.”
We emphasised to him that we don’t care about the refund what we need is a simple apology. Sadly, we did not get that.
He was so aggressive to us to the point that we were physically uncomfortable to stay any longer. Please don’t forget we were at the construction site with a couple of his workers).
We are still processing the trauma he brought to us. This is definitely not something we’d like to remember when we look back on our honeymoon trip. Please think carefully when you try to book this hotel.
