Luanping Chaoxing Farmhouse (Jinshanling Great Wall Branch)

The hotel is newly refurbished and the owners a married couple are the most welcoming, providing assistance with Great Wall excursions, they provided a driver and sandwiches for the day hike. The resturants local cuisine was exceptional taste, as was the quality with all local sourced produce, ingredients. You can walk to the shops at the end of the village and easily walk along the street of the valley… The owners speak English and possibly other languages. They were great hosts. I would stay there again.

Chao was the best host that there could be on this planet: He made our stay a true experience and helped us always in any way he could. He was very generous and even upgraded our room to a better one! The food at the integrated restaurant is also insanely good!

I was in Jinshanling to do the Great Wall hike to Gubeikou. Chow was an incredible host. He speaks excellent English, picked me up from the train station, brought me to a place to stock up on snacks, and then whisked me to the wall for sunset (I had not expected this but was so glad that I went). After sunset I had a large delicious meal. Then he arranged a car to drive me back to the wall at 4am for sunrise. A+ service! The mattresses are new and comfortable. Thank you for everything, it made my trip to the wall s much better!

The boss, who speaks good english, picked me up from the Gubeikou station, we stopped to buy some snacks and water and then he took me to the start of Panlongshan trail. He told me directions to get to Jinshanling. Pretty straightforward, hard to go wrong, just follow the spraypaint and ribbons. After sunset I texted him and he picked me up at Jinshanling. Very delicious home cooked dishes, both dinner and breakfast, huge portions, cold beer!  The room was big, comfy and modern, great mattress and bedding. The bathroom was big and modern with different controls for a nice shower.  In the morning (4am) the boss arranged local transport to get to and from Jinshanling for sunrise. Don't miss it, the sun rising over an empty wall; hardly anyone around. The hotel is  just a 5 minutes drive from the ticket station. I wish i could give more stars. Great memories! The combination of Panlongshan and Jinshanling is like a 100 times better then Badaling. Very easy to organise with the train and overnight stay. And this is the best hotel to do it.

Love their home cooked dishes! We rather go back to hotel for meal after Gubei water town. The couple bosses were so sweet to let us indicate spiciness and accommodate our minor diet restriction. They dun have noodles but they used alternative ingredients to make some gourd dish that tasted close to noodles. The rooms were big, in SG standard, one bed was queen size and the other was super single. Their bathroom was newly renovated and love their heater installed at shower cubicle, making it more comfortable to shower in cold weather. The couple bosses provided great tips on local transport to help us get to/fro Jinshanling for sunset and sunrise opportunities. They are situated around 5min drive from Jinshanling ticketing. Love the room doorstep views overlooking the geese and house dog. We will choose this hotel next time!
