Penang Marriott Hotel

Although the hotel isn't located in the historic old town, it boasts convenient transportation links and is closer to the sea, offering superior views. The sea-view rooms even provide a stunning sunrise experience. As expected from an international chain hotel, the facilities are new, making it a reliable choice. The staff are warm and friendly, especially the petite Chinese-speaking girl at the front desk who was all smiles and answered all our questions. The concierge's recommendations were also spot on.

The biggest issue with this hotel is the noise. I could hear everything clearly from the adjacent room: showering, flushing the toilet, turning on the tap, and even closing the door. At night, I had to wait until the neighbors finished showering and flushing before I could fall asleep, otherwise I'd be woken up. I wouldn't recommend it for light sleepers. For the past few nights, I've had to wait until around midnight for the neighbors to finish their routines before I could finally rest. What's more, my room was on an end, so theoretically I should have only heard noise from one side. I can only imagine how much worse it would be for someone staying in a room with neighbors on both sides.

The hotel was very clean. Before leaving, I was debating between Mylen Hotel and Marriott, but with a child, I ultimately preferred Marriott's bright decor. The room smelled lovely as soon as we opened the door. A special shout-out to the enthusiastic hotel staff member, Melanie! Her service was absolutely amazing, amazing, amazing! 👍👍👍

I've stayed here a few times now, and the experience is always excellent. The room facilities are very new, and the bed is comfortable. The breakfast offers a wide variety of options, and there are many restaurants nearby to choose from. It's also not far from Parkson, easily accessible by taxi or a short walk.

Overall, it's pretty good. The staff at the kids' club were excellent. They played with the children the whole time and even remembered their names. The front desk staff spoke a little Chinese and were generally very friendly. Most of the concierge staff were great; they helped with luggage and opened car doors. However, the evening staff were quite poor. One day, we came back late, and there were no other guests around, but the concierge staff were just slacking off – they didn't open the car door or help with luggage. The housekeeping was a bit average; they walked around without greeting us. The room had a sofa bed, which was great for the kids once made up – a definite plus! The pool was also very good, with warm water and plenty of towels, highly recommended.

An excellent hotel! Everything from the service and facilities to the environment was outstanding.

The rooms are excellent, perfect for long stays with family and friends. I highly recommend staying at this hotel when you visit Penang.

Honestly, I wasn't particularly impressed; it's just a standard business hotel. There are quite a few dining options nearby, which is convenient. I've always felt that Marriott's decor is similar to Hilton's, but Marriott tends to be significantly more expensive.
