If you're lucky, the water color is beautiful on sunny days, and any photo you take will have that vacation vibe. Photo spots The first recommended spot is the open area in the middle of the beach. Position yourself in the bottom third of the frame, leaving a large area of the horizon in the background for a fresh, clean look. The second spot is the edge of the coconut grove near the beach; use the coconut trees as a foreground and have the person walk in the shade for a natural shot. The third spot is by the coastal road; capturing the road, coconut trees, and the sea in one frame gives you that classic Wanning vacation vibe. The fourth spot is for sunset backlighting; a silhouette against the orange sea creates the strongest atmosphere. Wearing white, yellow, or light blue clothing will make your photos look better. First of all, Shanqin Bay Swallow Cave is definitely the most worthwhile spot to visit in Wanning this time. Personally, I think it far exceeds Riyue Bay and Shimei Bay. Driving directions: Sanya –> Wanning! 1. Navigate to Shanqin Bay Swallow Cave. When you are about to arrive at Zhengmenling Bridge, there will be road signs for the Swallow Cave parking lot, and people will wave at you from the roadside to pull in and park 🅿️. Do not stop at this point. Don't hesitate; there are parking spots further ahead. This location is still some distance from Zhengmenling Bridge (which is the entrance to Swallow Cave). 2. The closer you get to Zhengmenling Bridge (Image 2), the more cars there are on the side of the road, and more and more villagers will wave at you to park. Parking is free, but they are actually trying to sell you electric cart/beach buggy rides to Swallow Cave. I'll talk more about this later. 3. You should park on the side of the road at the end of the bridge you arrive at, but I suggest you make a U-turn and park later. First, drive across the bridge to appreciate the charm of this rainbow bridge and the full view of Shanqin Bay (Images 2 and 3, though my photos aren't great). There is a 10-min transit limit, and you cannot park on the bridge. I drove across the bridge, made a U-turn, parked on the bridge deck, and got out to take photos for 2 mins. The entire transit time should not exceed 10 mins. This is doable during the off-season, but you can't park there during the peak season as it will affect traffic flow. 4. Drive back to the roadside parking at the bridge head. By this time, people will be waiting for you to get out of the car to sell you electric cart/beach buggy rides. Unless you have mobility issues, I suggest you walk. Don't be intimidated by what they say. I was afraid of the heat and wasn't decisive enough, so I wasted my money. They quoted 80 for 2 people round-trip and said to keep their number and pay on the return trip. I casually said 50 for 2 people, and they agreed. 💰 Money isn't the issue; spending money while traveling is expected. The thing is, this beach buggy seats 2 people side-by-side with no safety guardrails, and it goes down a slope and across the entire beach to get to Swallow Cave. As a fit young person, I had to hold onto the handle tightly to avoid falling off, and I even bumped my head on the roof once. Although I asked the driver to slow down on the return trip, I felt like he was getting more excited and almost threw me off. For the return trip, you call them after you finish taking photos, and they will come to pick you up. You pay before getting on the vehicle for the return trip. Personally, I think there are safety issues; children, pregnant women, and the elderly definitely cannot ride this vehicle. Also, the distance really isn't far; walking 15–20 mins is definitely enough. Don't be scared by that slope. Additionally, the salespeople will tell you that the electric cart can only drive to the beach, and then you have to walk across the entire beach yourself. While this is true, the entire beach is covered in volcanic ash and reefs, which makes for great photos. Because I took the beach buggy, I basically went straight to the destination, Swallow Cave, and didn't walk back to take photos along the way. Also, the driver will try to sell you photography services on the way. This depends on your personal needs. There are also various photography sales pitches when you arrive at Swallow Cave. 5. There is a rest area on the beach with chairs and places selling coconut water, etc. So, just walk down and bring a pair of flip-flops. Wear sneakers for walking. Change into flip-flops after arriving at the beach. You can take photos all the way from the beach to Swallow Cave. I recommend wearing shorts, otherwise, your pants will get wet when the waves hit.
