Holiday Inn Resort SOUTH PADRE ISLAND-BEACH FRONT by IHG

Everything was pretty nice. Just one thing that I do want to point out. I made my reservation through Trip.com and I was told that I would need to pay a $50 deposit upon arrival (I have it in writing too). It turns out it was $150 and when I checked out I paid $58 for resort fees. It was confusing and misleading. Better communication and clear explanation is necessary for the consumer. Furthermore, better communication is so important between the hotel and Trip.com so we the consumers get all the facts before booking and have a clear understanding to avoid confusion.

The hotel and resort itself was exactly what we were looking for. The rooms are nicely furnished, there's 3 fun pools to enjoy, it's right on the ocean, there's 2 fun outdoor beach huts to get food, and nice dining inside. They also had live music, free yoga, and other events going. So the vibe was awesome! However, they have not maintained all these amenities well. The first room we got had a window that wasn't sealed, and there were dozens of moths in it. They changed to us to a new room, downsizing from a king to a queen, and didn't comp us anything for the negative experience. The new room only had one bedside stand, which my husband claimed, so I had to put my phone and water on the floor to reach for during the night. The lamp shades had burnt spots, there was hair on the towels and sheets, mildew in several places, and everything was sticky. The pool for the swim-up bar was very dirty, and I kid you not, they played loud party music at the pool (which the rooms surround) from 8am until 11pm. We called on Monday night at 10:15pm to tell them no one is in the pool and ask if they could turn it off, and they said no it goes to 11pm, but they did turn it down slightly. Once they were out of towels, and another time we got the last ones. We also called the front desk several different times on different days, and no one ever answered. So while we made the most of it and had a blast, we won't ever be returning to stay, though we'd consider a day pass!

Service in the lobby was good.  Service for the room needs to improve. I was gone from room from early morning to about 3 pm and nobody went in to clean restroom or to give us clean towels.  However, I still recommend this hotel. You can’t bid the ocean view I got. 

It was close to an event that I had at Isla Blanca Park. My coffee pot wouldn’t work & they brought me a new one, immediately. I liked having the outdoor heated pool. It was nice swimming in the warm water on the cool evenings. Very friendly staff.

To be a Holiday Inn facility, I was expecting better. There should be anything wrong with facility to be old, the thing it needs a lot of maintenance, elevator, parking, lobby, the pool areas, and of course the room where we stayed the water faucet form the sync the bath shower poor water pressure and faulty hardware. We arrived late night on our first of three nights reservation and we wanted to sleep in but oh surprise! the fire alarm went on in the building at 6 am and of course we woke up and ready to evacuate from the sixth floor, I looked over the window everything seemed normal, called front desk and I was told an apology and we were assured that everything was under control. The alarm stayed on for about 10 min! then went off and 15min later... it went on again!! Ok fire alarms are there for a safety reason and thank God there was nothing to worry about right? BUT THE FIRE ALARM WENT ON EVERY FREAKING MORNING WE STAYED THERE !!! That says a lot of how poor the building is maintained. I picked this place for location closed to the beach, but there is third party umbrella and chairs rental and there is a sign that price is $35...when I got to the guy in charge said the sign was supposed to be covered and the price was $70 dollars a day and only until 6p. We ate at the brunch there the first morning we stayed , not only was pricey... food was awful. Do not stay on this facility... no no.

The price you pay is not the quality you receive. No carpet in the room (at least not the one I was in), holes in the wall with cable line going through the walls. The room was big and the bathroom was extremely small. Barely room to move. Seems like you can take some of the empty space of the bedroom and utilize it for a comfortable bathroom.

Check in was a nightmare. Only 1 worker. I stood in line well over an hour. Then found out that our ocean view room wasn't ready. It was past 4:30. So we waited another hour than I got back in line for another hour and our room still was not ready. I settled for another room. The tv didn't work. Back in line for 30 more minutes to report the tv. Waited another 30 minutes for the repair man. At 7:30 pm, the whole thing exhausted me. The location was good. The room was comfortable. It was probably because it was Christmas day. I have to give the few workers there the credit they are due. At least they showed up for work.

Staff was great. Facility was horrible. Had three different rooms in 4 night stay. #1: music noise from bar one floor below was over 100 decibels, ocean view window had not been cleaned in years #2: heater did not work, safe did not work #3: phone did not work, bathroom exhaust fan sounded like I was at the Indy 500 I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Very poor upkeep
