One night, undisclosed active renovation, zero management accountability
We paid SGD 136 for one night at Pinnacle Hotel Davao City, booked through trip.com. At no point was active renovation disclosed — not in the trip.com listing, not verbally at check-in, and not via any notice in the room itself. We were placed on the 7th floor, directly above ongoing construction work on the 6th floor.
At 8:00 AM on a Sunday, construction began with continuous hammering and banging, waking the entire floor. We were in the room with a 5-year-old and a 6-month-old infant.
When we contacted trip.com, we were told hotel management would speak with us directly. Trip.com was actually very quick and helpful. At the front desk, staff confirmed there was no manager, duty manager, or deputy manager on site — despite construction crews already at work. We were told the manager would arrive at 2:00 PM, three hours after the noon checkout deadline, meaning no one with any authority was available to address the issue at any point during our stay.
The front desk clerk himself was polite and apologetic, but was left with no ability to resolve anything. This is a structural FAILURE on the hotel's part: undisclosed construction, no in-stay notice, and no accountable staff present during operating hours when guests — including ones with infants — most need them.
I'd recommend trip.com and prospective guests treat this listing with caution until the property discloses renovation status upfront and ensures management is actually reachable during the hours it operates.
