Definitely recommend! The best experience I had during Madrid! Super helpful stuff and good service. The location 👍, very safe and very central. I’ll come back again!

Pool was out of order, not usable, Very disappointed. Hot water system in the shower is sometimes very hot, and in 5 seconds turns cold. Please make sure this is fixed before some guests are boiled.

If the room rate is HK$3500 per day, it's smaller than expected; the door opens directly onto the large bed (Figure 1). There's not much space for luggage, and the service is mediocre; the front desk staff are unfriendly.

The room is too small. The bathroom is OK, but the water heater doesn't work well. It's hot and cold at the same time. Facilities: Not bad. Good location. Convenient to everywhere. The staff are very enthusiastic. Good and delicious breakfast

I can’t imagine staying anywhere better in Madrid. Everything was perfect. The location is exactly where you want to be especially in the evening. Rooms large and updated. The best part…the staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in future.

We had a lovely stay at El Autor Hotel Madrid! The staff is extremely nice and helpful. We had a 2-bedroom/2-bath family suite, and it was plenty of room and very comfortable for our family of four. Housekeeping did a very good job each day, and the service/food at the restaurant was good as well. The beds were very comfortable and the pillows were terrific--not too "quishy." The location of the hotel is great--we appreciated the quiet street while also being within easy walking distance of many of Madrid's many attractions, restaurants, and shopping. Valet parking is available for a fee. We did have a problem with the hot/cold water in both showers. We noticed on Saturday that the shower wouldn't stay at a constant temperature--we would set it at a certain temperature, but it would alternate between colder and hotter from whatever temperature it had set. We alerted the front desk of the issue, and we were told on Monday that it had been fixed. We didn't have an issue with it after that. The family suite is on the 6th floor...and the common area/hallways on the 6th floor were quite warm--there was no air movement or airconditioning in the 6th floor hallway (but the rest of the common areas were comfortable, temperature-wise.) Also, the middle "original" elevator is the only elevator that goes to the 6th floor, and it didn't always want to work properly...and getting four grown adults in that elevator was tight! We often used the more modern elevator that goes to the 5th floor and then the stairs. Room for improvement: the a/c in the first bedroom could be tempermental--but we were still comfortable. We were able to adjust the temperature, but not the fan. Also, the lighting in the bathrooms needs to be brighter (and, yes, we knew we could do two settings: the full "on" and the "relax." ) The lights on the mirrors are very dim--they need brighter bulbs. During the day it wasn't as much of any issue with the daylight through the windows (the suite got good natural light during the day,) but at night it was very hard to see...especially in the front shower as there is no light fixture in the shower ceiling. Also, there needs to be more hooks or towel bars in the bathrooms to hang wet towels, clothing, etc. Otherwise, we appreciated all of the room amenities: in-room safe, mini-refrigerator, drinking water each night, hair dryer, robe, slippers, iron, etc. We recommend El Autor Hotel Madrid and would stay there again.

My husband and I recently spent five nights at this hotel. What a gem! Check-in was easy and the staff was helpful answering any questions we had about the area. The room was spacious and immaculate. Great housekeeping and turndown service at night. Breakfast was delicious and included a fresh fruit bowl. Excellent service as well. The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood but very close to everything a tourist would want. This is a five star hotel, don’t miss it!

My Rating: 5/10 €580/night Stay: May 25–30, 2026 SERVICE FAILURES Shower Emergency (Critical) Monday 11pm: Arrived and showered—low pressure, temperature issues. Tuesday 8pm: Still broken after reporting. Told to wait until 8am. Wednesday 10am: Maintenance deemed unfixable after 45 min. Moved to same-category room. Timeline: 36 hours, three showers, zero problem-solving. Compensation: chocolates and apology note. Housekeeping Gaps • Toiletries placed carelessly (no luxury standard) • Vanity kits: requested 3 times, delivered once • Shaving kit: requested twice, provided once • Thursday 8pm “cleaning”: no amenities replaced, curtains not closed, water not replenished DND Violation At 4pm with DND active, reception called saying housekeeping was outside with laundry. Unacceptable—DND is sacred. Laundry Mix-up Second delivery came in another hotel’s laundry bag. Epitomizes the lack of attention to detail. THE BOTTOM LINE El Autor delivers stunning interiors but fails on execution. At €580/night, you expect beautiful design plus 5-star service. Instead: shower down 36 hours, housekeeping ignoring repeated requests, minimal recovery. For a luxury hotel, these gaps are disqualifying. Best for Instagram photos. Not for functional luxury.

Bellman Claudiu & front desk Jacobo were extremely helpful! Our Platinum upgrade to a suite was appreciated! Our bed was separated from the living room by a partial wall with a separate flat screen TV, fridge, teapot & coffee machine. The bathroom was big, with a walk-in shower. The Living room had a flat screen TV, loveseat, table & chair. The only "issue" - the remote control for either TV also turned on & controlled the other TV, which was usually on a different channel. Maintenance man said all the 07 rooms have the same issue. We just turned down the volume on the TV we weren't watching. Breakfast, in the attached El Pimiento Verde restaurant is included for Platinum members (otherwise €35 per person.) Breakfast was outstanding! Fruit plate, juice, cereal, egg dishes to order, meat & cheese platters, variety of breads & pastries. Staff are efficient and friendly. Dinner in the restaurant was also very good! The portions were very big and easily shared. The artichoke flowers are a speciality. Full service bar can make any beverage. Extensive wine list.
