Dangkou Ancient Town Hotel Wuxi MGallery Collection

The hotel is new and the service is good, but the lack of charging stations in the parking lot is a bit inconvenient. They also packed breakfast for us, which was very thoughtful.

Initially, I was given room 1348, which had a view of a plain white wall – quite disappointing. However, the front desk quickly arranged a room change for me, which was a nice gesture. The hotel offers a pool and a gym, and the lobby has a pleasant aroma.

This was my second stay at Angsana Dangkou, and this time I booked a courtyard room. As soon as I opened the door, it felt like an entire Jiangnan garden had been placed right beside the bedroom. Every step revealed a new beautiful scene; it was so peaceful and therapeutic. I highly recommend experiencing it. The hotel's service was incredibly heartwarming. The front desk and restaurant staff were friendly and attentive, treating us like family. The hotel is integrated with Dangkou Ancient Town, so you can just step out and stroll through the old streets. It happened to be National Day, and the ancient town was buzzing with a variety of wonderful activities, making for a relaxed and enjoyable pace of travel. The breakfast selection was rich and varied. I particularly loved the coffee – the latte had delicate foam and the coffee beans were very aromatic. The freshly made noodle soup and mini wontons had an authentic Jiangnan flavor and were truly unforgettable.

I had a very comfortable stay. The room was well-equipped and had a large balcony. The common areas featured charming little bridges and flowing water, and just past the iron gate was the heart of the ancient town, perfect for leisurely strolls. A pleasant surprise was that the hotel provided Malin+Goetz toiletries; the rum scent was delightful. I even bought a travel-sized bottle from the front desk, and the price was quite reasonable.

From the moment I stepped into the hotel, I was captivated by its architecture and the interplay of light and shadow. The serene verandas, the dappled sunlight filtering through the lattice work, and the reflections blurring the line between water and sky, all perfectly blend the Zen tranquility of Jiangnan with modern sophistication. I thought this was the extent of the hotel's surprises, until I met the staff. Having missed dinner due to travel, the Western restaurant was already closed when I arrived in the afternoon. However, the front desk staff, instead of making excuses, warmly greeted me. They specially contacted the kitchen and insisted that the Western restaurant chef make an authentic bowl of fine noodles just for us. 🍜 Looking at the steaming bowl of noodles on the table, accompanied by exquisite side dishes, my fatigue instantly melted away. On a journey, it's often those unexpected 'pleasant surprises' that are the most touching. While the facilities here are indeed stunning, it was that perfect, 'at-home' human touch – that comfortable 'human touch' – that made me change my vacation plans and decide to extend my stay for another week!

The hotel is very new, and there were very few guests during my stay. The entrance was still undergoing renovations. The room was quite good. The hotel is located inside Dangtou Ancient Town, so you can directly swipe your card to enter and explore. However, there really weren't many people around, though there were many art students sketching, which made for a quiet stroll. Across the street, there's a Xi Long Ji restaurant; if you like Wuxi soup dumplings, you should give it a try – they're quite delicious. There's also a Starbucks nearby and other amenities. The toiletries in the room were excellent, and even the hairdryer was a Dyson, which I was very pleased with. I didn't get to experience the pool as I forgot to bring my swimsuit. The breakfast was quite rich and tasted very good. Even though there weren't many guests during my stay, everything was fully stocked, and surprisingly, the selection changed every day, which I was very satisfied with.

The hotel environment is excellent, especially the stunning night views. There's direct access from the hotel to the DangKou Ancient Town, which is very convenient. The rooms are well-equipped and very clean. Breakfast is plentiful, and the service is warm and friendly. This time we tried the hotel's Chinese restaurant, and the food was good, but unfortunately, some of the dishes we wanted to order were unavailable because the hotel had a big event that day.

First, the positives. The hotel is located within Dangkou Ancient Town, and you can enter and exit simply by swiping your room card, which is quite convenient. The hotel environment is elegant, with small bridges and flowing water, in a garden style. Upon check-in, a tall young man proactively helped carry our luggage to the room. When we called for water, the response was very quick. However, there are also some drawbacks. We chose this hotel for peace and quiet, but unfortunately, they were changing plants during our stay. Workers started making a lot of noise early in the morning, waking us up, so we had to wear earplugs to try and get back to sleep. Secondly, the hotel's breakfast selection isn't extensive, and the taste is mediocre. Also, every time you drive in or out, you have to go to the front desk to scan a code, which is a bit inconvenient.

Staying at Jiangnan Yashe in Dangkou Ancient Town was an amazing experience. The hotel is built alongside an old garden, boasting traditional white walls, black tiles, and beautiful garden views, creating a serene and peaceful environment. The guest rooms are equipped with high-end facilities, comfortable bedding, and quality amenities. The service is warm and attentive, and the breakfast is rich and authentic. You can experience the charm of a waterside town without even leaving the hotel. I'll definitely choose this place again next time!
