Sofitel Haikou

We stayed at this hotel on Chinese New Year's Eve, marking the final stop of our Hainan trip. The hotel is located in downtown Haikou, offering a panoramic view of the harbor from its 35th-floor lobby. Parking is available in the underground garage, but you'll need to switch elevators to get to the lobby. The room package we booked included a '50% off coupon for a double buffet,' which we used for our New Year's Eve dinner, enjoying a lavish buffet spread. On New Year's Day, the hotel even had a lion dance celebration.

This was my first stay here, and overall, it was a really great experience. The front desk lady was super attentive and welcomed us warmly. The bar upstairs has a fantastic vibe, and it's so convenient that the hotel has robots to deliver food. Plus, the lobby is absolutely beautiful!

The room is stylish and unique, and the view outside the window is stunning! The gym is well-equipped, and the two pools cater to different needs. The only minor drawback is that the hallway carpets and lighting are a bit dim, but perhaps it's a deliberate design choice with a specific concept in mind.

Facilities: Pretty standard, but looked quite new and modern. Cleanliness: Clean and tidy. Environment: Lots of shopping malls nearby, and plenty of late-night food options just a short walk away. The front desk lady recommended the Paotai Night Market which had many great food stalls – the food was delicious! Service: Very enthusiastic. She recommended many old, well-known local eateries that don't even have signs, and gave detailed directions on how to navigate the small alleyways. Saved us a lot of time!

My phone died when I was checking in, and since they didn't have any spare charging cables, the front desk didn't hesitate to scan a power bank for me. They were also very warm and welcoming to my kids, even giving them candy. These are small gestures, but they really show how friendly they are. The hotel itself has a young and trendy vibe, which made for a very relaxing stay.

Location: The hotel is right in the city center, making it super convenient to get around. Taxis to all the major attractions were less than 20 minutes. Facilities: The facilities are excellent, and the smart toilet was a nice bonus. The bed was very comfortable, and the room layout was well-designed. Cleanliness: The room was spotless, which made for a very comfortable stay. Environment: The environment is fantastic, especially the lobby on the top floor. The views are incredible, offering a panoramic sight of Haikou city – it’s the perfect spot to watch the sunset. This time, I also tried the executive lounge, and the service was extremely attentive. The snacks were delicious, and the cocktails were great too! Service: During this stay, Shirley was incredibly helpful. She gave us excellent recommendations for food and activities, showing great thoughtfulness! The breakfast was also very good, maintaining a high standard. I’ll definitely stay here again next time I’m in Haikou!
