Amman Citadel

Amman Citadel is located on a hill in the center of Amman, the capital of Jordan, where the high elevation offers a view overlooking the dense houses and winding streets of Amman's old town, making it an important site for understanding the history and ancient civilization of Jordan. The site preserves architectural ruins from the Roman, Byzantine, and Umayyad periods, with historical imprints from different eras layered on top of each other, turning it into an open-air history museum. The tall stone columns and massive foundations within the citadel remain clearly visible, showcasing the grandeur of ancient Roman architecture. Standing among the ruins, one can imagine the spectacular sight of the temple when it was intact.
