Dunhuang Xiyu Resort Homestay (Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring)

The B&B is right by Mingsha Mountain, and you can see the whole landscape from the highest point of the property. Walking around, every staff member you encounter greets you with a polite smile. The entire courtyard has a beautiful Wabi-sabi aesthetic; when the sun shines in, shadows dance and stretch, making everything feel wonderful. 👍 The breakfast was especially rich and delicious. I tried both a Chinese and a Western option, and both were fantastic! Hope to see you again soon!

I did a lot of research before coming and chose Xiyu, and it certainly didn't disappoint! ✨ The environment is truly amazing, and the butler service is incredibly thoughtful. The suite is very spacious, and you can see Mingsha Mountain right from your bed – it creates such a wonderful ambiance! 🏨 Environment: The butler thoughtfully upgraded our room. It was very large and spotlessly clean, with a huge terrace. You could see Mingsha Mountain from both the bathtub and the bed. The courtyard has a pool, and the water had just been changed the day we arrived. There's also a stargazing terrace. It was just too cloudy at night during our stay, otherwise, stargazing would have been incredible 🌌. There were also cacti near the entrance about to bloom, but we didn't get to see them open. 💁 Service: Upon check-in, we received welcome fruits and a thoughtful souvenir. The butler specifically mentioned that the souvenir included lip balm because the local area is quite dry, which was indeed very considerate. The butler's service was exceptionally attentive, from handling check-in to introducing the common areas and every detail of the room. Any request made in the group chat was met with an immediate response! 🍰 Food: Afternoon tea was provided, featuring local apricot peel tea and various local dried fruits and fresh fruits. Breakfast offered both Chinese and Western options. Chinese breakfast included noodles, while Western breakfast had bread, scrambled eggs, and salad. You choose your preference the day before, and they prepare it – super thoughtful! Other: The gym has treadmills, kettlebells, dumbbells, etc., which is sufficient for basic cardio and resistance training 💪.

The room was clean, and the location was super convenient – close to everything. The terrace was also great for taking pictures!

Staying for three nights at the Dunhuang Xiyu Resort B&B was the most comfortable part of my entire Northwest trip✨. The overall experience, from the food and service to the architectural design aesthetics, was absolutely top-notch – definitely a five-star rating! The B&B has a very textured rammed-earth Wabi-sabi style, blending perfectly with the desert environment. Every corner of the courtyard pool and common areas is filled with thoughtful details. In the evening, when the lights come on, the ambiance is incredible, making every photo Instagram-worthy. The butler team provided service that was just right – attentive without being intrusive. During my stay, the breakfast offered a rich variety of local flavors, and the afternoon tea and evening sweet soup were delightful surprises. The location is very close to Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring. After exploring the scenic area, returning to the peaceful B&B, enjoying the desert breeze, and shedding travel fatigue was wonderful. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and you can relax and have tea in the common areas. At night, you can look up and see the brilliant Milky Way. If I visit Dunhuang again, I would undoubtedly choose Xiyu again. I sincerely recommend it to anyone traveling to Dunhuang!

A hidden gem for families in the desert oasis! This B&B's attention to detail and service completely won us over. We found a real treasure at the foot of Mingsha Mountain! We originally booked this Dunhuang Xiyu Resort B&B for its desert views, but the surprises kept coming from the moment we walked in. A huge shoutout to the manager and the concierge team – from helping with luggage and planning itineraries to even hanging up our washed clothes, their responsiveness and thoughtfulness truly warmed our hearts as travelers in a foreign place. 🏠 About the room: Our family room was an absolute paradise for the kids! It even had a dedicated sandpit area with the same fine sand as Mingsha Mountain and little tools. Our child excitedly dived in and played all afternoon, while we enjoyed the freedom of "mountain views from the balcony, kids entertained indoors." 🏊 About activities: Although the courtyard pool isn't huge, the water is crystal clear. In the afternoon, when the sun was just right, our child splashed in the water while we enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea by the poolside. With the golden sand dunes in the distance and joyful laughter nearby, every photo looked like it was straight out of a magazine. A special mention for breakfast – the concierge, seeing the good weather, brought our lavish East-meets-West breakfast directly to the observation deck! On one side, the magnificent outline of Mingsha Mountain, on the other, hot lattes, freshly baked bread, beef noodles, and wontons. There was even abalone for breakfast – this level of service is truly top-tier for a B&B. This kind of "bespoke" romance will be remembered for a very long time. From the facilities to the service, thoughtfulness was evident everywhere. When it was time to leave, our child didn't want to go and said they wanted to come back next time. The concierge even thoughtfully gave them a small gift bag. If you're coming to Dunhuang with kids, you absolutely must allocate time for this B&B. It will show you that a gentle haven truly exists in the desert. We'll definitely stay here again next time! 🌵✨

The hotel service was exceptionally good; they were very helpful in resolving an issue with my child, and I'm very grateful! We were lucky enough to attend the pool party, which had an amazing atmosphere. The singer was very professional, and there was plenty of BBQ and beer – it was an absolute blast! A truly unforgettable trip to a Dunhuang guesthouse!

This is a small yet beautiful guesthouse with an excellent design concept, blending aesthetics with practicality, and paying close attention to light layering and intricate details. It's not only comfortable and picturesque but also evokes an emotional connection through sight and touch. Xiyu is strategically located at the intersection of Mingsha Mountain and the oasis, offering stunning views of Mingsha Mountain's grandeur while enjoying the tranquility of the oasis. The guest rooms combine comfort and a touch of the Western Regions' ambiance, with large floor-to-ceiling windows framing the outdoor scenery like a natural painting. The bedding is comfortable, and the bathroom facilities are comprehensive. The public area features a swimming pool with parasols, camping chairs, rugs, and linen sofas, creating a minimalist yet beautiful aesthetic. Second-floor rooms come with independent small balconies, perfect for watching the sunrise in the morning or gazing at the Milky Way at night, providing an undisturbed moment of healing. The hotel's management team is young and vibrant. First-time guests receive a welcome tea and a souvenir. When you return at night, the lights are on, and there's a bonfire party. The barbecue provides warmth, and birthday cakes make guests feel respected and accepted. I believe Xiyu Guesthouse will continue to improve.

The service was great, but doing laundry was a bit inconvenient. For someone from Guangdong who washes clothes daily, having to go up to the second floor for laundry is a hassle!
