Dunhuang Xiyu Resort Homestay (Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring)

The hotel seems to be newly opened, but many facilities aren't operational yet, and some areas like the third floor are still under renovation. The views aren't great; they definitely don't live up to the promotional photos, as you can see. Overall, the hotel's quality across the board doesn't match its price. It feels like Trip.com and the hotel have invested a lot in marketing, which might be why the prices are so high. The overall value for money just isn't there.

The hotel's design is excellent, and the service is very attentive. A special shout-out to Xiao Tong at the front desk – they were fantastic! There were even welcome gifts, which the kids loved. The breakfast was unique and delicious.

Facilities: Well-equipped. Ambiance: Great environment, lots of photo ops, perfect for stunning pictures, very quiet. Service: Very attentive and meticulous. Terrace Afternoon Tea: Fantastic, exquisite fruit selection.

As a high-quality B&B, the service was already excellent. You could really feel the manager and staff's sincerity and effort 💪. We encountered a small issue during our stay, but it was resolved promptly! The room type we stayed in came with a sand pit, which was perfect for the kids to play in. It's also very conveniently located close to Mingsha Mountain.

Overall, I was very satisfied. My friends and I, two families in total, stayed for two nights. Facilities: For a guesthouse, the facilities like the pool and terrace are quite complete. Although the footprint is small, it has everything you'd expect. Cleanliness: The rooms were clean and tidy. All the amenities were from good brands, high quality, and safe to use. Environment: Although it's in a guesthouse cluster, the environment and conditions are clearly far superior to other guesthouses nearby. It's a quiet oasis amidst the hustle and bustle, with a serene and mysterious ambiance as soon as you enter. Service: The hotel is very close to the Mingsha Mountain scenic area. I especially want to thank the manager for the pick-up and drop-off service. Since I can't eat iodized salt, the manager personally cooked a non-iodized Chinese meal for me – egg-fried rice and stir-fried seasonal vegetables. The kids absolutely loved it. Surprise: During our stay, the owner even hosted a music and BBQ party! Delicious food, good wine, and a live music teacher made for an incredible atmosphere! In summary, the owner is very thoughtful and dedicated. Our stay was incredibly happy and heartwarming!

The room was incredibly comfortable, with a minimalist wabi-sabi aesthetic that felt very high-quality. The common areas were perfect for photos, especially the pool and the rooftop photo spot. This time, I booked their desert-themed afternoon tea, which was amazing for pictures! **Rooftop Afternoon Tea:** The desserts were freshly made. **Welcome Fruit:** A generous selection of fruits. **Xiyu Selected Souvenir:** A cute little camel and a practical linen bag. **Service:** The staff were very enthusiastic.

This guesthouse is nestled right at the foot of Mingsha Mountain, incredibly close to Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Lake—just a ten-minute walk away. You get to soak in the majestic desert views while also enjoying the tranquility of an oasis. The rooms feature a simple, rustic Wabi-sabi style, and the bedding uses a KingKoil mattress, so even light sleepers can get a good night's rest. Open the window and you're greeted by endless sand dunes. Watching the sunset from the terrace in the evening, as the entire landscape is bathed in warm gold, is absolutely breathtaking. What truly impressed me were the people here. The manager is incredibly thoughtful; from check-in to check-out, every detail showed his genuine sincerity. The staff were always responsive, helping with luggage, bringing extra pillows and slippers, and even recommending local delicacies. The breakfast was exquisite and healthy, with both Chinese and Western options. The afternoon tea and a complimentary nightcap were also very carefully prepared; the homemade tiramisu was as good as anything you'd find in a high-end dessert shop. On our departure day, we had to leave at 6 AM, and the manager thoughtfully prepared milk, bread, and fruit for us to take with us—that was a really nice touch. The room was clean, tidy, and the facilities were new. The sunset views from the rooftop terrace were absolutely stunning. If I ever come back to Dunhuang, I will definitely stay here again. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone heading to the desert!
