Hangzhou West Lake Scenic Area - Tiger Spring is an attraction that combines natural scenery with cultural significance, nestled at the foot of Daci Hill southwest of West Lake. Renowned for its clear and sweet water, Tiger Spring is celebrated as the "Third Best Spring in the World." When paired with West Lake Longjing tea, the two are hailed as the "Twin Wonders of West Lake." There is an enduring legend about how it got its name: a Tang Dynasty monk named Xingkong wanted to build a temple here but struggled due to a lack of water. He dreamed that a deity told him two tigers would bring the spring water. When he woke up the next day, spring water had indeed gushed out, hence the name Tiger Spring. This story adds a touch of mystery to the site. The water quality of Tiger Spring is exceptionally pure, naturally seeping through rock layers from deep groundwater. Today, the area surrounding Tiger Spring has been developed into Hupao Park. With its tranquil environment, pavilions, and spring pools, visitors can stroll along mountain paths, observe and listen to the spring, or enjoy Longjing tea brewed with Tiger Spring water at a teahouse, experiencing the unique charm of where culture and nature meet.

Show More ReviewsGetting up early allows you to reap the beauty of Hangzhou's halfway point. Before 7:30 a.m., there are very few people at West Lake, including the Su Causeway and Spring Dawn, making it truly a fantastic place to explore. I took my mom for a walk, and at 9:30 a.m., we were tired and stopped at a nearby noodle shop for a rest and a meal. It was a relaxing experience.
