❌ Disappointing Stay in Shibuya – Overpriced and Extremely Dirty
The Worst Hygiene Experience I’ve Ever Had in Japan – Avoid This Place!
I recently stayed at this hotel in Shibuya, and it was, without a doubt, the most disappointing accommodation experience I have ever had in Japan. Given Japan’s stellar reputation for cleanliness and hospitality, I had reasonable expectations, but this hotel failed miserably on every front.
The most shocking aspect of my stay was the appalling lack of hygiene. The room was incredibly outdated and clearly suffered from a severe lack of proper maintenance. Upon walking in, the first thing I noticed was a layer of thick dust covering the surfaces. It only got worse from there. The sofa was stained and dusty, making it completely unusable. More alarmingly, I discovered visible mold on the walls and around the door frames. Breathing in that room felt genuinely unsafe and unhealthy. It is unacceptable for any hotel to let mold accumulate to this extent, let alone one located in the heart of Tokyo.
I have traveled extensively throughout Japan and stayed in various types of accommodations, from budget hostels to luxury ryokans. I can confidently say that the cleanliness here is the absolute worst I have ever encountered in this country. It felt as though the room had not been deep-cleaned in months, only superficially wiped down between guests.
To make matters worse, the value for money (CP value) is extremely low. I understand that hotels in Shibuya command a premium due to the prime location, but the exorbitant price charged for a room in this decaying and filthy condition is nothing short of a rip-off. You are paying premium prices for sub-standard, unhygienic facilities.
I strongly advise anyone looking for a place to stay in Shibuya to avoid this hotel. There are plenty of other options nearby that actually value cleanliness and guest comfort. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else.
