Xi'an Shuyuanli Homestay (Bell and Drum Tower Yongningmen Subway Station)

The homestay is very nicely laid out and decorated in a modern interpretation of traditional Chinese design mixing contemporary and antique furniture and other artefacts. It is located in the heart of Xi'an's old cultural district and within walking distance of such attractions as the City Wall, Bell Tower and the Muslim Quarter. The nearest Metro station is approximately a 10 minute walk away and opens up to the rest of the city via a clean, extensive and reasonably priced system. Despite the language barrier, the staff are friendly and helpful with Ah'Ju being particularly good. The rooms are relatively small but perfectly comfortable with the only criticism being the lack of a bathroom mirror and somewhat variable hot water (there are some signs of inevitable wear and tear). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are happy to recommend it to those who want clean, safe accommodation in a convenient location at a reasonable price but aren't concerned about the facilities that come with a large name hotel.

Nice little homestay tucked away in an alley off the street. The ambience was good, and the interior design felt like time travelled to classical literary world of ancient China. Good value for the place and easy access to subway and good food!

We are a couple from Singapore who traveled to Northwest China last month. We stayed at Xian SH Shuyuanli Homestay, where the manager was very hospitable. Although the facilities are basic and the hotel is a bit old, it was very clean, well-located, and elegantly decorated. The manager speaks English, which made communication convenient. It's highly recommended for international travelers.

In the heart of the city! Easy to spot! Friendly staff and beautiful room and general space!

Brilliant homestay with a fantastic location. Situated on Shuyuanmen pedestrian street, and just a two minute walk across the road to the South Gate entrance of the City Walls. Directly outside the homestay you have plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars to dine in. It was also in walking distance to attractions such as the Bell and Drum Tower and the Muslim Quarter.
