Jen Penang Georgetown by Shangri-La

On my first day in Penang, I chose to stay in George Town. This hotel has a great location, right next to Komtar Tower and a shopping mall, plus a Gama supermarket. Breakfast can be had at the hotel or at Chang Long Coffee Shop across the street. Getting to places like Mural Street is very convenient; it's a quick Grab ride, just a few minutes away.

The room was decent, and it was a frontline sea-view room. Even though the sea view wasn't extensive, it was still pretty good. The hotel was very crowded. The only downside was that the soundproofing was a bit poor. Perhaps because there were so many guests, I wasn't able to get a late checkout.

Great location, and the environment is excellent too. My kids absolutely loved their stay. There are tons of food options nearby, and the front desk staff, some of whom speak Chinese, provide really good service. We'll definitely be back!

Excellent location and incredible value for money. As part of the Shangri-La Group, quality is guaranteed across the board, from service to hygiene. The lobby is spacious, airy, and bright, perfect for a short break before heading up to your room. Highly recommend!

Had a fantastic four-day stay in Penang, and Hotel JEN played a big part in it. The hotel's location is excellent, making it very easy to walk to Penang Old Town. Downstairs, there are dining options, a 7-Eleven, and a shopping mall. The family room was very comfortable for the kids. Of course, the hotel is a bit older, and the swimming pool shows its age. It's a very popular hotel; the lobby was always lively. We arrived on a red-eye flight and hoped for an early check-in, but due to how busy they were, we couldn't check in until 3 PM.

It was scorching hot outside, but surprisingly, I still needed a blanket to sleep in the room even with the AC off, which was fantastic. There are malls, Starbucks, and Ba Wang Cha Ji nearby, and the basement also offers various snacks. Not bad at all. The room facilities are a bit old, but the hygiene is good. There's a teahouse right across the hotel that even serves blanched greens, which was a pleasant surprise.

This is my third trip to Kuala Lumpur, and my second stay at Traders. I chose it again based on the fantastic experience I had the first time, from the service to the location and the dining options. However, this time was a bit disappointing. The renovated bathroom had endless issues; the soap dish in the shower area became a stagnant water trap (and wasn't addressed during cleaning the next day). I even found an employee's business card in the bathtub, so I could only reassure myself that at least it gets cleaned daily. As a hotel under the Shangri-La Group, it really shouldn't be like this.
