Lake Austin Spa Resort has become my new happy place. I had the best massage I’ve had in at least 15 years. I took yoga, meditation, and a balance/fitness class that left me feeling both centered and energized. I did the cooking demo - this kitchen is gorgeous. One of the unexpected highlights was playing mahjong with Candace. She’s honestly feels like an Olympian-level coach (if mahjong had Olympians!). She prepares people for tournaments and made the game feel fun and challenging. There is the blue room, garden library and other cozy nooks (including the gorgeous and cozy rooms!!) to read, relax and feel so serene. I loved all the little touches — the bowls of gummy bears, the fresh oranges, the lakeside hammocks where I sipped hot chocolate, and the quiet moments kayaking at sunset. These small details made the resort feel magical. The food is out of this world. The steak and mashed potatoes are still living rent-free in my memory. The service was exceptional. Everyone was kind, present, and genuinely caring. I’ve already booked my birthday trip. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

It’s a very quiet place in a very tranquil space. It feels unhurried. The staff are very helpful. The food is excellent. Living quarters have a rustic feel. Many activities to choose from. Spa and hikes are what we chose. But there something for everyone

LASR is my happy place; I have been three times in the last year. Yes, it's a splurge for me, but I return home rested and recharged and ready to face my busy life. Yes, it is great to travel with friends, but I feel very comfortable and welcomed when I am by myself. When traveling solo, I am able to focus on myself, something I need to do more. I don't live near water, so I love a room with a lake view. This trip saw the food back to 5 stars and I enjoyed several new classes (foot stretch and pelvic floor), but I did miss seeing the vegetables in the garden and the garden tour. It's the employees who make this truly an experience. From Nataly and Bianca in the dining room to Dave pushing me during a workout, to Dennis, Renee, and Kristie being everywhere, their attention is what sets this place apart. I have sampled many spa treatments and private experiences, but I return again and again for the Aquatherapy with Monica and Energy Work with Life Coach, Nicole Bills. Many have discussed the Aquatherapy, so I will focus on Nicole. I have seen her now twice, and she has helped me shift my perspective and focus. I usually see her for two hours, but when I return in June (yes, I am already planning), I hope to see her for two hours one day and an hour the next day. I was speaking with a mother-daughter duo (who happened to be at the resort the same time as my last visits!) and they too see Nicole. It's like we were part of a special club discussing how much she has helped us focus and reset. Refocusing energy is difficult, but I am so appreciative of the help and advice Nicole has shared with me. See you all in June!! (Please bring back the yogurt parfait with blueberries and keep that AMAZING caesar salad!!!)

We knew that the resort was highly-rated, but could not have anticipated a nicer experience. All the members of the staff are so genuinely kind and helpful. They anticipate every need. The food is exceptional, delicious, and healthy, without being pretentious or fussy. The whipped ricotta with lemon and honey was one of the best dishes I have ever tasted! Thank you, Chef James! The location is superbly peaceful on the lake. The classes and instructors are passionate about their subjects and very knowledgeable. We took classes such as morning yoga by the lake, tarot card reading, Japanese wooden swords, floating meditation, and took kayaks out on the river. Thanks to Natalie, Hunter, Melody, Zoey, and others who made our experience truly memorable!

No detail is overlooked. Mom and i I went for a few days. This was my mom’s first trip, and she was asking when we were coming back before we’ve even left. The accommodations were extremely clean and comfortable. The staff could not be friendly or more helpful. There were many staff who deserved mention by name, and I apologize for not knowing all the names. Monica Gutierrez from the spa was extremely good in her treatment of myofascial release. Lina’s from the spa gave me one of the best massages I’ve ever had in my life. Cale from the spa was also extremely friendly and helpful. Payton from the front desk was great. Claire was a great trail guide. Dave taught us a wonderful burn class.

I rarely leave reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience after my husband and I returned to Lake Austin Spa and Resort for the first time since it came under new ownership. The resort is now owned by a REIT (real estate investment trust), which typically focuses on maximizing profits by cutting costs—and unfortunately, the effects are noticeable. What We Enjoyed: - The staff and instructors were wonderful, and the classes remain a highlight of the stay. Where It Fell Short: - The renovations have stripped much of the resort’s former charm. The spaces now feel commercial and impersonal. - The dining room, once cozy, now resembles a nursing home cafeteria. - Beautiful, home-like furniture has been replaced with generic Westin-style pieces. - Harsh LED sconces and bright LED bulbs in the room diminished the tranquil atmosphere. We often had to keep the lights off to avoid being blinded. - Meals were acceptable in taste but frequently served lukewarm rather than hot, which was especially disappointing for soups. Overall, while the people and programming remain excellent, the atmosphere and attention to detail have been compromised under the new management. This resort used to feel like a home away from home, but now it feels like a commercial property prioritizing margins over guest experience and sub par value based on pricing.

⸻ We just stayed at Lake Austin Spa Resort and overall had a lovely, low-key and cozy experience. I highly recommend booking a lakefront room — waking up to deer feeding in the mornings and evenings was such a special touch. The food was high quality, super healthy, and the customer service was warm and friendly across the board. That said… for a property centered around “spa,” the spa experience itself was deeply disappointing. The property feels dated (very 90s), the in-room towels felt like basic Holiday Inn quality, and the pillows could definitely use an upgrade. But my biggest complaint was the massage. A 50-minute massage is priced at $275, which already feels premium — but my therapist arrived about 10 minutes late, stepped out to gather additional items, and my session ended before my husband’s. I realistically received closer to 35 minutes of hands-on time. At that price point, that’s unacceptable. For a spa resort charging luxury rates, I expected premium amenities — especially basics like a steam room — and they simply aren’t there. Beautiful setting, wonderful staff, great food… but the spa experience itself did not match the price
