Jiajing Island

On this trip to Wanning, the biggest surprise was Jiajing Island. Unlike the popular beaches that are crowded and noisy, this place offers a peaceful feeling of “finally arriving at a real island.” Approaching the island by sea, the water’s color is already captivating, with layers of blue-green spreading out. The reef rocks and white sandy beach are clearly visible along the shore. After landing, you can take a leisurely walk along the beach. The sand is fine, and the waves are gentle, ideal for capturing clean, atmospheric seaside photos. Snorkeling is highly recommended during the day. The underwater visibility is good, with coral and schools of small fish visible. When sunlight penetrates the water, the scene is especially clear. If you don’t snorkel, you can walk along the reef rocks. Shooting waves and rock layers from a low angle creates a more storytelling photo than a typical beach shot. The island’s vegetation is rich, with many coconut trees, vines, and tropical flowers. Sitting in the shade watching the sea feels just like a scene from a vacation movie. If you like camping, you can set up a beach tent in the evening. The tent, folding chair, sea, and coconut trees in one frame make for a very relaxed photo. Before sunset, be sure to wait by the sea for the golden light. Surfer silhouettes, an orange sky, and waves appear together, creating a strong visual impact. At night, you can sit by the sea to watch the bonfire and stars. Slowing down is the most comfortable way to enjoy Jiajing Island. 📸 Photo spots: 1. Close sea aerial view: the island surrounded by blue-green water, with a strong overall feel. 2. White sandy beach on landing: use coconut trees and shallow waves as the background for a clean shot. 3. Snorkeling water surface view: capture coral and fish, highlighting clarity. 4. Low-angle reef rocks by the sea: waves hitting the rocks add more depth and tension. 5. Tropical vegetation shade: frame the sea with leaves for a stronger natural vibe. 6. Outside the camping tent: tent, chair, and sea in one frame for a solid vacation feel. 7. Sunset surfing spot: capture surfer silhouettes to maximize atmosphere. 8. Night bonfire side: warm light contrasts with the dark sea, creating a storytelling scene. ⚠️ Tips to avoid pitfalls: Jiajing Island’s weather has a big impact, so check the forecast before you go. Don’t wear regular cotton clothes for snorkeling; sun protection clothing and life jackets are more practical. Supplies on the island are limited, so bring water, snacks, and sunscreen in advance. Avoid shooting photos at noon when the light is harsh and prone to overexposure. Be careful walking on the reef rocks to avoid slipping; choose shoes that are easy to walk in.

Say goodbye to the stress of the 9-to-5 grind and take advantage of off-peak travel to escape with your two kids to Wanning for a few days of slow living 🌿. The sea breeze soothes away even the anxiety of parenting. The lobby faces the sea with a direct view of Jia Jing Island. The beach is wide and the sand is fine and soft, perfect for kids to play comfortably. We also saw many young people playing beach volleyball—so youthful and vibrant! The details in the accommodation are top-notch—children’s slippers, bathrobes, and step stools are all provided. Staying here with two kids is even more worry-free than at home. The service at Le Méridien is truly excellent but often underrated. During off-peak times, the villa area is very quiet, prices are reasonable, and the value is outstanding. A money-saving tip for a hassle-free vacation with kids is to hand them over to Beiye Planet daycare, where they can interact with cute pets, do coconut-flavored cookie DIY, join bubble parties, and make chocolates at the cocoa workshop... The schedule runs from morning till night. Meanwhile, you can sit quietly on the beach and wait for a tangerine sea sunset 🍊. We stayed for two days and also enjoyed some adult activities—clay crafts during the day, bonfires at night, and a slightly tipsy beach bar at dusk watching tidal movies with ice-cold beer and the sound of waves. Doing nothing has never felt so peaceful. “Wasting time” as a mom is actually a way to reconnect with yourself ✨. 📸 While the kids were in daycare, I wandered around. Le Méridien is known for its cleanliness and photogenic spots, so here are some of my favorite photo locations—can’t go wrong with these! ◾️ Le Méridien Shimei Bay Resort 1. Coconut breeze lawn leading straight to the sea 🌴 Off-peak means fewer people, and every shot looks like a vacation masterpiece. 2. White logo on the beach with Jia Jing Island in the background 3. Infinity pool merging with the sea horizon 4. Rainforest river paddleboarding with natural scenery 5. Beach bar with a vintage bus and sunset, evoking a relaxed South of France vibe—nailed it! 💡 Photo Tips: Fewer people and soft light from 8-10 AM, and stunning sunsets from 4-6 PM. Wear solid-colored long dresses (white, yellow, or clean old-money styles all work) for maximum photo appeal!

The happiness of a family vacation with kids comes from the quiet, healing atmosphere of Le Méridien Shimei Bay~ 6 km of fine soft beach facing Jiajing Island Brackish tidal river, vast green pipa forests Few people, beautiful scenery with natural soft light The entire hotel feels like an open coastal art museum Every snapshot has a South of France film vibe Light-colored dresses + straw hats create the perfect atmosphere Stay in the playful family room Spacious and bright, equipped with children’s bathrobes, slippers, and a doll tent Kids are super happy The hotel also offers many family activities and summer camps, combining fun and learning for a meaningful children’s vacation experience! Exhausted during the day, asleep as soon as you hit the bed at night, the carefree rhythm after childcare is so worry-free, enjoying the beach lounge chair with iced coffee alone The beach bar, vintage French bus, and lawn hammocks all look great in photos Evening seafood buffet on the beach, sunset glow with live band performance, the atmosphere is amazing No need to rush the itinerary or plan ahead Kids can run wild, adults can relax freely Thought only French lifestyle art could bring adult relaxation, but this place also respects children’s natural wildness with a meaningful ritual—this Natural Coast Art Museum truly understands family travel 💛

Escape the crowded popular bays and finally discover the secret snorkeling spot Jiaojing Island in Wanning. This uninhabited island outside Shimei Bay features crystal-clear waters with excellent underwater visibility, vast patches of colorful coral, and schools of tropical fish swimming around you. Diving into the sea feels like entering a dreamy underwater garden, instantly washing away the fatigue of city life. The boarding point is at China Resources Shimei Bay International Yacht Club. You can drive directly to the dock or take a taxi from downtown Wanning, which takes about half an hour. Friendly reminder: avoid roadside low-cost wild tours without safety guarantees. Be sure to choose a legitimate yacht club with small groups of 10 people. The all-inclusive price is around 1,000 RMB per person, covering yacht trips, full snorkeling gear, jet skis, banana boats, unlimited fun on the sea magic carpet, plus glass boat aerial photography. All underwater and aerial footage is provided free of charge. Try to choose morning departures for fewer people and better water quality. Do not apply regular sunscreen to avoid damaging the coral. Bring high-SPF sunscreen, slippers, and waterproof bags. Lying on the sea surface, feeling the sea breeze, and gazing at the endless blue ocean—that’s the true relaxation of island travel.

Shanqin Bay has become a treasured spot in their hearts. The clash of black reefs and white waves is the unique healing charm of Shanqin Bay. It lacks the bustling noise of Jiajing Island and the poetic romance of Boundary Island, but it possesses the ocean's unique tranquility and wildness.

Wild Diving at Jiajing Island: The Untouched Glass Sea A Guide to Niche Adventures ① Wild Snorkeling → Escape the crowds with a private boat charter (speedboat from Shimei Bay Pier), explore undeveloped coral reefs with 20m+ visibility, encounter starfish and clownfish swarms, and capture bioluminescent "blue tear"-level moments with an underwater camera. ② Desert Island Afternoon Tea → A captain’s secret: hover in a glass boat by the coral reefs, enjoy freshly cracked coconuts + wild jackfruit, and lounge on a floating mat watching fish schools pass by (pre-book the captain’s signature seafood sashimi). ③ Chasing Light in the Dark → At 17:00, cut the engine on the return trip to watch the sunset gild the windmill coastline (with distant views of Shenzhou Peninsula Lighthouse), then join a nighttime squid hunt—freshly caught and grilled under the boat’s halogen lights. Pro Tips ⚠️ No landing! Activities limited to surrounding waters; choose licensed operators (look for "China Resources Yacht Club" permits, avoid illegal boats). ⚠️ Gear: Wear hard-soled water shoes to prevent coral cuts, use reef-safe physical sunscreen (no chemicals). ✓ Hidden Photo Spot: Aerial shots of the "emerald pupil" sea cave on the east side, revealing a natural heart-shaped reef at low tide. > Real Experience: When the speedboat slices through peacock-blue waves, plunging into the same untouched paradise as *If You Are the One 2*, you’ll understand—Hainan’s last wild soul hides in Wanning’s cresting surf. #Yuchuan Seaview Hotel #Offbeat Sanya Adventures #Wanning Glass Sea

Before going to Wanning, a friend asked me, "Didn't you just visit Sanya?" I said, "Sanya is for sightseeing, Wanning is for enjoying yourself." I did some homework before the trip. There are three islands for sea trips in Wanning, and Jiajing Island is the most popular. From what I heard, Jiajing Island is the liveliest, with many water activities. The water visibility is said to be over ten meters, earning it the nickname "Glass Sea." I chose Jiajing Island. The reason is simple—I wanted to try banana boating, snorkeling, and sea fishing all in one go, and their all-inclusive package suited me perfectly. The first activity was being thrown into the sea from the banana boat, which departed from Shimei Bay Pier. A white speedboat carrying about ten of us headed toward the horizon where the sea meets the sky. The captain was a sun-tanned local, quiet but smiling with a set of white teeth. He pointed to a faint island in the distance and said, "That’s Jiajing Island. The weather is great today, and the water is as clear as a swimming pool." As soon as the boat stopped, the banana boat was pushed into the sea. It was a bright yellow inflatable boat shaped like a bunch of bananas, towed by a jet ski. At first, I wondered how thrilling it could be, but the next second the jet ski suddenly sped up, sea wind rushing into my mouth, and salty seawater splashing all over. When turning, the banana boat almost touched the water surface. I held the rope tightly while the girl next to me started screaming. The second activity was snorkeling: a gateway to another world. After climbing onto the boat and catching my breath, the guide handed me a snorkel mask and tube. He said, "Don’t rush into the water, wait until your heartbeat slows down." The seawater around Jiajing Island is indeed transparent. The boat drifted not far from shore. Looking down over the side, I could faintly see the reef below. Sunlight penetrated the surface, forming beams that shone on the coral. Some coral looked like brains, others like deer antlers, in soft brown and green hues. A school of blue-striped fish swam by leisurely, as if knowing I didn’t belong here and posed no threat. We brought our own GoPro and small cameras to take photos and could play underwater for a long time. The official package includes aerial photography, so no worries about getting good shots. After snorkeling came the gentler activity of sea fishing. Lunch was served on the boat—simple seafood barbecue with freshly grilled shrimp, fish, sausages, along with sliced watermelon and cold cola. Everyone sat cross-legged on the deck, hair still dripping, sharing what they saw underwater. After eating and drinking, the captain brought out fishing rods. He said the southern shore of Jiajing Island has many reefs, making it a great spot for sea fishing. Although we didn’t catch any fish in the end, spending time daydreaming while enjoying the scenery was also very nice. (Note: Use physical sun protection; coral is sensitive to chemical sunscreens, and people need to avoid sunburn. Long-sleeve jellyfish suits are the best choice. The best time is from March to October when the waves are small and the water is clear. Avoid typhoon days and check the weather before departure. There are three boat trips daily (9 AM–12 PM, 12 PM–3 PM, 3 PM–6 PM). I chose the afternoon session when the sunlight is just right, and you can watch the sunset on the return trip.)
