Mount Yuelu derives its name from the "Record of Mount Heng" from the Liu Song Dynasty of the Southern and Northern Dynasties, which states that "Mount Heng is eight hundred li in circumference, with Huiyan Mountain at its head and Yuelu Mountain at its feet." Within Mount Yuelu are historical sites such as the ancient Lushan Temple, as well as the tombs of notable figures like Huang Xing and Cai E. Mount Yuelu's culture encompasses the legacy of famous figures, represented by their footprints, and a religious culture integrating Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. The mountain's value lies not in its height, but in its historical significance. The entire ascent and descent are on foot, with moderate difficulty. Those who prefer a less strenuous option can take the sightseeing bus.
