Staying at the Ruke was such a pleasant and enjoyable experience. We arrived at 10am to drop off our bags and they allowed us to check in early! They greeted us with hot tea and a bowl of fruit.
The hotel is exceptionally clean, the room was spacious, cosy and had high-tech amenities. They even provided heated sleeping eye-masks and ear plugs.
We enjoyed an afternoon snack of tea, biscuits, fruit and bean porridge after a long day of hiking on the mountain. When heading out for dinner, we left our washing in the laundry basket outside of our room, and it was washed and folded outside of our room in the morning! This is a complementary service.
Breakfast was absolutely delicious. We chose the spicy option and had a noodle soup, fruit, nuts, pickled vegetables, porridge, corn, a pork bun, bone broth, dough sticks etc. They even offered more food! The coffee was also tasty.
The staff are extremely attentive and accomodating. They use Google translate to communicate in English and they went above and beyond to make sure our experience was as enjoyable as possible.
An additional bonus was they cleaned our shoes that were dirty from hiking overnight and when checking out they gave us umbrellas to take with us because it was raining.
It was a shame we only stayed one night. I highly recommend booking the Ruke hotel if you’re planning on staying in Zhangjiajie and exploring Tiananmen mountain. If we find ourselves in Zhangjiajie again, we will be back!
