based on 138 reviewsFairy Lake Botanical Garden boasts a rich variety of plant species and stunning lakeside scenery, making it perfect for a leisurely stroll when you want to unwind. The renowned Hongfa Temple in Shenzhen is also located here, attracting a constant stream of worshippers.
Fairy Lake Botanical Garden is located in the northeastern suburbs of Shenzhen, bordered by Wutong Mountain, the highest peak in Shenzhen, to the east and Shenzhen Reservoir to the west. The garden is divided into six main areas: the Heavenly Scenic Area, the Lake Area, the Temple Area, the Desert Plant Area, the Fossil Forest Scenic Area, and the Pine and Azalea Scenic Area.
The Tian Shang Ren Jian Scenic Area features diverse plants and flowers, along with attractions like the fascinating Plant Bagua Maze and the enchanting Hidden Wonderland. The Hongfa Temple, located in the temple area, enjoys thriving incense offerings. The lake area primarily consists of Xianhu Lake and its surrounding attractions. The other three zones live up to their names, each showcasing distinct botanical displays.
You can take the bus at the main entrance of the attraction. The bus goes directly to Hongfa Temple, but you can also choose to hike if you prefer. If you walk, you'll first pass through a tree-lined path with many different types of trees, then cross a man-made lake (where you might see people chanting release prayers by the shore—likely due to the temple's influence, many come here to release animals). After the lake, you'll arrive at Hongfa Temple.
At Hongfa Temple, you can transfer to the attraction's electric shuttle, which operates on a loop route in this order: Hongfa Temple - Lake Area - Bonsai Garden - Desert Plant Area - Paleontological Museum - Fossil Forest Area - Medicinal Plant Area - Tingtao Pavilion - Liangyi Pavilion - Hongfa Temple. If you're in good physical condition, you can still choose to walk along the same route as the shuttle. At the Lake Area (Xianhu Lake), pedal boats and electric boats are available for those who wish to enjoy a lake cruise.

Show More ReviewsVisited the Shenzhen Botanical Garden with my family and loved it. The grounds are beautiful, and the shuttle bus is cheap and convenient for getting around such a big park. A few areas were closed during our visit, but that barely mattered given how large the garden is, and it didn't affect my rating. The succulent area and the bonsai area were the highlights for us, both really impressive. Highly recommended for a relaxed day out with family.
