Spiral Ridge 99-Li Hot Spring Waterfall Scenic Area

The Spiral Ridge 99-Li Hot Spring Waterfall Scenic Area is located in Puge county, Liangshan Yi autonomous prefecture, south of Xichang, and is the core attraction of Spiral Ridge. The scenic area stretches 99 li in length, with one view per li and a wonder every nine li, totaling 99 views, hence its name. It preserves complete Quaternary glacial relics and is home to dense primeval forests and seas of azalea blossoms, boasting a rich natural ecology.

What makes the attraction unique is its natural hot spring waterfall cluster. Dozens of hot spring waterfalls of varying sizes gush from the cliffs along the mountainside, converging into a broad waterfall belt with crystal-clear water. Where the waterfalls flow, spectacular stalactite formations have taken shape, and these stalactites enclose natural pools of different sizes and depths—some can only be reached by squeezing through narrow passages, while others hide behind the waterfalls and require ducking under the curtain of water to enter, revealing a hidden world of their own. Bathing in the pools, visitors feel the warm spring water cascading from above, and the impact of the flow is like a natural massage. Besides the hot spring waterfalls, the attraction also features cliffside hot springs hanging on the rock faces and high-mountain hot springs at higher elevations. In the high-mountain hot spring area, the spring water coexists with chilly snowmelt lake water, forming several small islands where visitors can soak in hot springs, and cave hot springs are also hidden within the islands, offering a rather unique experience of hot and cold blending together. The spring water meets the standard for natural drinking mineral water and can be consumed directly. Climbing the stone steps to the cliffside viewing platform, visitors can look out over the entire valley, surrounded by green trees with a winding stream below.
