Shinagawa Prince Hotel

The 21 sqm twin room felt a bit small, and the air conditioning and other facilities were really a bit old. On the plus side, getting around was convenient, though the crowds at Shinagawa Station were just insane.

This trip, I stayed at both the Grand Prince Hotel and this Prince Hotel. Due to a typhoon, my flight was canceled, forcing me to extend my stay in Tokyo by two nights. Since the Grand Prince couldn't accommodate me, I booked a more affordable Prince Hotel nearby. They're part of the same group, but the Prince Hotel is a more budget-friendly option compared to the more upscale Grand Prince. The Prince Hotel is closer to Shinagawa Station, but the rooms are small and dated, and check-in takes forever with long queues. There were a lot of Southeast Asian, Asian, and Indian guests. It's located in an annex building with a mall, restaurants, a drugstore, and a 7-Eleven right downstairs. The Grand Prince, on the other hand, feels more like a hotel nestled in a Japanese garden, and it even has its own 7-Eleven on the ground floor.

Excellent! They offer free luggage storage, which was incredibly helpful as I needed to travel to Kyushu and drop off some bags before returning later. Plus, the hotel even has views of the Tokyo Tower!

This hotel is the closest one to Higashi-Ikebukuro Station, and right across from Sunshine City! The 7-Eleven downstairs was the most comprehensive one I found on this Tokyo trip. Even with a lot of people buying things, the checkout was super fast, with 6-7 staff working at once – very efficient. There's also bowling, an aquarium, a 100-yen shop, and a drugstore, all conveniently located downstairs. Every day was just shopping, shopping, shopping! Since tax refunds aren't as easy anymore, you might as well stock up.

The location is fantastic! It's just a short walk across the street from Shinagawa Station. The hotel lobby is spacious, and while they offer self-check-in, it was a bit cumbersome. On our second stay, they upgraded us to a higher floor with a view of Tokyo Tower, but it was a bit noisy due to its proximity to the subway.

I stayed in room 21, and the sofa faced Tokyo Tower directly, offering a great view on a clear day. The room was comfortable and well-equipped. The hotel's biggest advantage is its excellent location, directly opposite Shinagawa Station, making it easy to get anywhere. Downstairs, shopping and dining are incredibly convenient: there's a 7-Eleven, and a wide variety of restaurants. I was also pleasantly surprised to find a duty-free drugstore that was much cheaper than the airport's duty-free shops.
