DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hotel Penang

Based on the price and the services provided, this hotel scores 60 points at most—it's basically on par with a domestic budget hotel. Without the Hilton branding, it probably wouldn't be worth 680 RMB a night. The bathroom is just average, the shower stall is tiny, and right across the street is a construction site with zero view to speak of.

I still really like this hotel. It's less than a 30-minute taxi ride to George Town, which is quite convenient! There's also some bay nearby where you can have some fun, which makes up for Penang's focus on culture and food – it's really great! It's close to the beach, the pool downstairs is very comfortable, and the breakfast is delicious 😋

Blackhearted filter cotton / Hotel Is this what they call Hilton? **Hygiene:** After one night, the pillowcases caused breakouts. The bedding had a pervasive musty smell. There was a noticeable non-personal hair under the bedsheet. Upon entering the room, I saw small bugs crawling on the toiletries. The bathroom sink was covered in black stains that were completely ignored. The most outrageous part: the shower water quality was ridiculously poor. After only two or three showers, the filter became so dirty (see P1) that it's impossible to feel safe. **Environment:** From the hallway to the room, there was an inescapable musty smell in the air. It was extremely damp and so foul that returning to the room felt like torture, not rest. The room floor was covered in damp water stains. **Facilities:** I don't know how the bathroom was designed. The shower only has a half-glass sliding door, so all the shower water splashes onto the floor tiles outside. This makes it incredibly slippery every time I step out of the shower. Given my recent sacrum discomfort, I nearly fell several times.
