The Hainan tropical wildlife park and botanical garden is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction focusing on rare wildlife education, conservation breeding, sightseeing, and leisure vacations. It serves as a natural museum that panoramically showcases the island-type tropical rainforest ecosystem and condenses the essence of Hainan's flora and fauna.The Hainan tropical wildlife park and botanical garden was established in 1995, located by the scenic Dongshan lake in Dongshan town, Xiuying district, Haikou, just 27 km from downtown Haikou. The park covers over 1,500 mu (including a 1,300-mu animal viewing area) and is home to more than 100 species of rare animals totaling over 2,000 individuals, as well as 280 families and over 1,000 varieties of tropical plants with 99% forest coverage. Entering the attraction feels like stepping into a natural "oxygen bar," while the tour itself resembles a delightful "forest bath."The park's views are purely natural, with vast forests and dense vegetation creating an ideal habitat for animals. The attraction is mainly divided into a vehicle touring area and a walking touring area. Breaking away from the traditional urban zoo layout of caged animals behind high walls and iron bars, various wild animals roam freely in their natural habitats, allowing visitors to experience the wonder of driving through tropical rainforests in search of these magnificent creatures.The main star animals at the attraction include: giant pandas (national treasures), Asian elephants, giraffes, African lions, Siberian tigers, white-cheeked gibbons, black bears, Pere David's deer, macaques, hippopotamuses, black swans, and flamingos.The flamingo restaurant (Hainan tropical wildlife park and botanical garden branch) covers an area of 1,600 square meters and can accommodate over 600 diners simultaneously. The restaurant uses fresh ingredients that are also natural green foods, primarily serving authentic Hainan local cuisine.
