Victoria Golf Resort

We had an incredible stay at this beautiful resort location. The views were absolutely stunning, and there were plenty of activities to enjoy throughout our visit. This resort will always hold a special place in our hearts as it was where I proposed. The staff were amazing from start to finish, and our dedicated guest relations manager (@Praveen Fernando) did a fantastic job arranging everything perfectly. They were attentive, efficient, and made the entire experience seamless and memorable. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and very well maintained and value for money. A huge thank you to the entire team for their exceptional hospitality and for helping create such a special memory for us.

We stayed as a family of three, and the hotel staff took great care of us throughout our stay. The atmosphere was peaceful, relaxing, and perfect for a family getaway. What we appreciated most was the kindness, care, and attention they showed towards our baby. The staff were incredibly friendly, supportive, and always ready to help whenever needed. Fantastic chalet, clean, modern and the staff put some thought into making our anniversary extra special. Improvement points: the food at the restaurant and more service upon arrival from the men (3 men at the reception doing nothing and expecting me and their female colleague to carry our suitcases) Anything else? We wish they had better golf prices for the people staying at the resort and better email communication (very expensive golf fees and no reply to our emails).

This is a first rate golf resort but with service that isn't of the level expected. The gated entrance and drive to the hotel heightens expectations: the views are fabulous. But we struggled with three heavy cases down steep steps to the reception area whilst a couple of staff watched on; and then they couldn't initially find our booking; and then there was no one to take us or our luggage to our room, until two tiny ladies volunteered to carry heavy bags, which we declined. Things then improved enormously. The surroundings are awesome, there is a nice pool area, the outside bar provided us with interesting company, and the food (mainly buffets) is OK to good. One evening we were treated to a "live action salad" : basically watching someone make a salad to your order! The main reason for staying here is the surroundings and the golf. If you are with friends or family, opt for the two bedroomed T4 lodge: extraordinary views. The golf course is by far and away the best in Sri Lanka and much better than expected. Ably assisted by my caddy Prabba (celebrating his 50th birthday) I thoroughly enjoyed this hilly/ undulating course. But reserving a tee time and booking in was a shambles. Initial requests by email went unanswered which they blamed on "being busy " due to a local golf tournament. Check out took an eternity, but this was not unexpected. This could be a world class 5* golf resort. But it isn't.

We mainly wanted to play golf at the golf club, but found it convenient to stay the night, which we were happy we did. The room was maybe the best room we had amongst the 7 hotels we tried on our round trip on the island. I need to emphasize, the room was great. The service had significant room for improvement. I didn't notice so much, because I was out playing golf, while my wife checked us in, but she informed me they had an attitude and limited focus on service. Which is a pity. Breakfast was included, but no buffet. I guess it wasn't many guests, so that wouldn't make sense. Food was ok, as was the service at breakfast. For those who wondered, the golf course was fun to play. A lot of variety, but unfortunately a bit wet - after some heavy rainfall some days before. Very few players - wonder how they can keep it open if this is representative, but the course was well groomed :-)

We had the best stay at Victoria golf resort. Food was amazing. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend for the people who want to take a rest from busy life and want to experience nature. Definitely we will visit again!
