Lu Xun Native Place

Lu Xun native place is a historic district in Shaoxing, where the literary giant Lu Xun spent his childhood. The attraction preserves many old buildings from that era and has restored scenes from his writings, such as the Tugu ancestral temple and Shou family compound. You can also find settings from his childhood textbooks, like the Hundred-herb garden and Sanwei study. The main street features white walls and black tiles, where you can visit Lu Xun's former residence - his birthplace. Explore the Hundred-herb garden behind the house, which was his childhood playground, or see the desk he used at Sanwei study. Don't miss Xianheng restaurant, where you can take photos with the bronze statue of Kong Yiji, enjoy fennel beans and yellow wine, and experience Shaoxing's slow-paced life. The attraction also includes the ancestral home of Lu Xun's family, the "Garden of customs" from his works, Shaoxing Lu Xun memorial hall showcasing his life, and Changqing temple where he was once a nominal disciple. Fans of his literature can visit Tugu ancestral temple and Jingxiu nunnery from "The true story of Ah Q," or Hengji pawnshop mentioned in "Outcry" to see the real architectural settings from his stories. Though not long, this district beautifully captures the charm of a Jiangnan water town. Numerous shops line the streets offering local specialties like Shaoxing stinky tofu and dragon beard candy. You can also take a wupeng boat ride through the waterways to immerse yourself in the water town atmosphere.
