This was the hotel I was most looking forward to during my trip to Shanxi. I didn't expect that I would end up spending more than 900 yuan to stay in the "dirtiest Marriott". Frankly, I don't even think this hotel deserves to be called a Marriott.
Cleanliness: We booked a basic room (courtyard twin bed), and from the carpet to the tile floor, there were all kinds of hairs (I can't even say they were hairs) visible to the naked eye, some in clumps and some scattered on the ground. We called the hotel housekeeping manager upstairs, and he changed our room to a room of the same type on the third floor of the hotel and gave us two free breakfasts. However, it took the hotel nearly 20 minutes to find a room that was said to "meet our hygiene standards". I can't imagine how difficult it is for one of the "largest and leading hotel management companies in the world" to find a "clean room with no hair on the floor" for its guests. (Please see the picture for the sanitary conditions)
Facilities: The first room the hotel arranged for us was on the first floor, the so-called courtyard room. Can you imagine that the "courtyard" of this courtyard room is actually empty (not even a table or chair)? The so-called courtyard is nothing more than an open space connecting the guest rooms to the hotel's green belt (a real open space with no facilities). Not only that, what's even more ridiculous is that the wallpaper on the wall next to the bed in the room we were assigned had mold spots due to water leakage or other unknown reasons. Many wooden door frames in the room were damaged to varying degrees. Even the clothes drying rack was broken (the screws of the bracket had fallen off and it fell on the floor of the room). How could Wutaishan Marriott have the nerve to sell a room like this for 980? Was it Fish Leong who gave you the courage?
Later, due to hygiene issues, the hotel moved me to a room on the third floor. There was no courtyard at all, and the door led to a construction site across the street. Around 1:30 p.m., the construction site was still working, and the noise was directly facing the bed in our guest room. How "pleasant" was the construction sound? Please refer to the video below the comments.
Service: Can you imagine that you drive to the hotel entrance and a lady who wants to check in needs to move a 26-inch large box from the trunk, while the concierge standing less than 3 steps away just stands there, indifferent? From checking in at the front desk to checking out, I hardly saw a single smiling face from the service staff in this hotel. Marriott, once known as the "world's best employer", can't even make its employees happy? How can such employees provide services worthy of the room rate?
Others: I believe that many people book this Marriott hotel at a price of thousands of dollars just because of the promotional pictures on the hotel booking page. What about the view of Mount Wutai and the peaceful and quiet years? I won’t comment on whether they actually have such effects. I will put the comparison photos of the actual room scene of the “buyer’s show” and the hotel promotional pictures of the “seller’s show” below the comments for your convenience in comparison.
