Kuala Lumpur in 48 hours I travelled to Malaysia from Vietnam and spent 2 days in Kuala Lumpur before heading to George Town for 3 days. Here’s what I got up to in KL. 🇲🇾📸 ✈️ Getting from KLIA to the city After arriving at KLIA, I took the airport bus to KL Sentral for just RM15. You can pay with Apple Pay, which was incredibly convenient. As far as I know, the airport bus is one of the cheapest ways to get into the city centre. From KL Sentral, I bought my KTM train ticket from the machine using Apple Pay and took the train to a station near my hotel. One thing I absolutely loved about KL: Apple Pay works almost everywhere! 💳🍎 After checking in, I had a shower and sorted out my Vietnam visa application, which usually takes around 3–5 business days. 🌆 KL by night In the evening, I went out to explore the city, taking photos of the skyline along the way. I headed to Chinatown for some halal malatang 🍜, then walked around the River of Life and Sultan Abdul Samad Building. Of course, I also had to make a quick stop at 7-Eleven for some snacks before heading back to the hotel. 😂 🛕 Day 2 — Batu Caves I left the hotel at around 7am and took a Grab to Batu Caves. My advice: go early to avoid the crowds and the heat! The colourful architecture was amazing, and climbing all those stairs was definitely worth it. The view from above and the huge cave temple inside were both incredible. 📸 🎨 Kwai Chai Hong & Petaling Street After Batu Caves, I took the KTM train back and headed to Kwai Chai Hong, a beautiful and artistic little street filled with murals and wall art. Every corner seemed to have something worth photographing. Then I walked over to Petaling Street Market for lunch before heading back to the hotel for a well-deserved rest during the hottest part of the day. 🥵 🌃 KLCC & the Twin Towers In the evening, I went to KLCC Park to photograph the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. Kuala Lumpur is one of those cities I could photograph from the same viewpoint again and again and still get a different skyline. The Petronas Twin Towers are obviously the icons. For years, they were the image I immediately associated with KL. But now they share the horizon with an increasingly impressive collection of skyscrapers, including the enormous Merdeka 118. What I love about Kuala Lumpur's skyline is that it doesn't feel finished. New towers keep appearing, changing familiar views and giving me another reason to find a rooftop or viewpoint the next time I'm in the city. And KL looks especially good after dark. The glass towers light up, the Petronas become even more recognizable, and the humid tropical haze sometimes creates an almost cinematic glow around the city. I've seen plenty of impressive skylines around Asia, but Kuala Lumpur remains one of my favorites because there isn't just one building worth looking at anymore.
