Shogetsu Grand Hotel

Excellent stay with spacious room with traditional breakfast and dinner. Kids love the room setup and comfortable lounge and onsen access experience. However, the price slightly on the higher end.

Fantastic hotel. We had a good rest here. Has indoor and outdoor onsen. Free massage chair to use before we sleep. Hourly snack activity with drinks at the lounge. Free parking. Do note once you turn in, the parking lot is right in front. You will miss it if you drive down the slope. Down the slope has free public footbath and cooking of eggs in boiling water. All room has river view. The lounge is very cosy for us to relax in.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The only small issue was that the hotel name on Trip.com seemed to be different from the name on the sign outside. When our GPS said we had arrived, we were a little confused and couldn’t find the hotel at first. But it wasn’t a big problem at all, we asked the staff nearby and they were very friendly and welcoming. The room was great and very comfortable. We didn’t even need to turn on the air conditioning. Just opening the window made the room cool and comfortable, and we slept really well. Maybe it was because we visited during autumn, but the weather was perfect. The food and service were also very good, both for breakfast and dinner. One thing we especially loved was the lounge, which was available almost all day. It was really nice to have a place to relax and enjoy throughout our stay. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely stay here again if we come back to the area :)

The room was spacious, stylish, and very clean. The food for dinner and breakfast was high quality. Excellent service! It was a very enjoyable stay, and I would definitely stay there if I visit Jozankei again.

This was my second ryokan experience, and I have to highlight how incredible the meals were at the Shogetsu Grand Hotel. The kaiseki was absolutely outstanding—beautifully presented, creative, and, most importantly, delicious. The meals were so good that I honestly felt like I got the room for free! 😂

The stay at this hotel exceeded all expectations. The property is clean and beautifully designed, the room is spacious with a stunning view, and the service is truly 100/10. The food is delicious, and the hotel offers all-you-can-eat drinks, snacks, and refreshments throughout the day at the lounge. There is also a private hot spring available (additional 3,300 yen), as well as a complimentary shared hot spring, both of which are absolutely wonderful. I’ll come back here agian.
